Just wrapped up an unforgettable start to our Alaskan adventure in Fairbanks β from private stargazing cabins to soaking in century-old hot springs and catching the Northern Lights on our very first night! π‘ Where We Stayed: Airbnb βHome in Fairbanksβ β 15 mins from the airport, 1 hour to Chena Hot Springs. π Featuring a game room + planetarium-style skylight β ultra private, quiet, and perfect for stargazing right from the couch! βοΈ Day 1: π½οΈ Chowder House Started with hot cocoa β, must-tries: Crab Roll π¦ + Garlic Shrimp π¦ β so flavorful! β¨οΈ Chena Hot Springs Resort Soaking in 100-year-old sulfur springs in below-freezing temps = magical! π‘ Bring your own towel & flip-flops ($5 rental otherwise). π§ Aurora Ice Museum $20 entry + $21 Apple Martini πΈ β cute but small, skip if short on time. π Aurora Viewing Tour β $110/person Rode a tank-like truck up the mountain β saw the aurora within 30 minutes! π First-time success with hot drinks, noodles, and clean restrooms onsite. π Pro tip: Eat at the resortβs restaurant first (salmon pasta was amazing!). π€οΈ Day 2: π² Seoul Gate Slept through breakfast π β but the army stew, bibimbap, and BBQ beef ribs hit the spot (skip the side dishes). π Santa Claus House A giant Christmas gift shop π β classic βweβre here, might as wellβ stop! πΌοΈ University of Alaska Museum of the North $22 entry, free weekend parking. Compact but packed with animal/botanical exhibits β great for photos. π₯ Aurora Crepes Unexpected delight: Duck crepe + strawberry crepe β yum! π Night 2 Aurora Success Caught the lights again β our guide even handed out official aurora certificates!
