Alaska Travel Guide | Fairbanks is not a food desert 🍽️✨ Many say Fairbanks is a food desert, but we actually enjoyed our meals quite a bit—maybe lowering expectations brings pleasant surprises! 😄 Lemongrass Thai 🇹🇭 Delicious! I’m a huge fan of Thai food, and while this place isn’t mind-blowing, it’s definitely above average. Best of all—no long waits, and the staff are super friendly! 😊 Panang Curry: Sweet and spicy—my favorite! 🍛 Adding seafood is a bit pricier but totally worth it. The scallops are huge! 🍤 Tom Kha: A tangy lemongrass coconut soup—so refreshing! 🥣 Satay: Grilled chicken skewers with a delicious dipping sauce 🍢 Pad See Ew: Just okay, nothing special 🍜 Thai Iced Green Tea: A must-try! Much lighter and fresher than regular Thai tea 🍵 Lemon Thai Ice Tea: Pure lemon black tea with no sweetness at all 🍋 Soba 🇷🇴 This Eastern European spot comes highly recommended, but the wait was painfully long… we were starving by the time our food arrived! 😫 Raci: Little-known crayfish tails—surprisingly the best dish, though a bit salty 🦞 Mamaliga: Braised pork—many recommend it, but we found it just average 🐷 Sarmale: Cabbage-wrapped pork—also popular but not our taste 🥬 Cusma Lui Guguta: A must-order! Unique cherry cream crepes with a fresh, sweet-tart fruit flavor—nothing like canned cherries 🍒😋 Zeama: Simple chicken noodle soup 🍜 Supa De Mazare: Basic pea soup 🥣 Compot: A tasty fruit drink, not overly sweet 🧃 I’ve heard Honey Cake, Pelmeni, Costita De Porc, and Paste Cu Creveti are also great! Aurora Crepes & Peking Duck 🦆🌯 We tried both the Peking duck and lamb crepes—both were pretty good! Best to order online for pickup or delivery. 📲 The Crepery 🥞 French-style crepes. This place is so popular that waits can be over an hour! 🕐 Highly recommend pickup or delivery. The savory salmon and sweet strawberry cream crepes are decent. Santa Claus House 🎅🍦 It’s a gift shop, but the ice cream is amazing! 🍧 Other desserts are way too sweet, though. Sunrise Bagel & Espresso 🥯☕ A local chain—tried their bagels and burritos; both were fine.
