Albany, New York – A Quick Guide 🗽
Many people aren’t very familiar with Albany, the capital of New York state. Situated along the Hudson River, it’s just across the water from Canada 🇨🇦 and forms roughly an equilateral triangle with New York City and Boston. A bus ride to either city takes about 2–3 hours. 🚖 Transportation & Safety As soon as I stepped out of the airport, I noticed plenty of taxis. Taking a taxi is convenient, time-saving, and safe—I wouldn’t recommend walking around alone. A friendly reminder: Albany has a significant Black population, and while this isn’t about racial bias, it’s wise to be cautious due to higher crime rates in certain areas. Always travel with a companion! 📱 How I Rented a Car I used the Expedia App (which has a Chinese version) to book a rental car. Simply search for nearby options, choose your preferred model, and make a reservation. I went with a mid-range car and paid around $160 for one day. Don’t forget your driver’s license and credit card when picking up the car! 📍Pick-up: 737 Albany Shaker Rd 🏨 Accommodation I also booked my hotel through Expedia a month in advance—which saved me a bit! I stayed at Tru by Hilton, located near the airport. A night cost about $110, and they offer free breakfast from 7 AM to 10 AM. 📍Address: 798 Albany Shaker Road, Latham, NY, 12211 🍂 Weather & Clothing Tips It was early autumn during my visit—days were still warm like summer, but evenings turned cool and windy. The wind is dry and chilly, so bring a thick coat and remember to moisturize and stay hydrated! ❄️💧 🍽️ Food Scene Most restaurants in the area serve American-style food. There aren’t many Chinese options, but prices are generally reasonable. 📍Dining Spot: 80 S Swan St, 2nd Floor, Albany, NY 12210 #AlbanyNY #NewYorkState #TravelUSA #HudsonValley #AutumnTravel #CapitalRegion #TravelTips #SafeTravels #ExpediaHacks #FallVibes
