🍜 Alhambra Food Review | Ipoh Kopitian – Michelin Bib Gourmand Spot!
After my husband’s medical check-up, we finally visited Ipoh Kopitian – a Malaysian restaurant that’s been on my list! 🍽️ To preserve authentic aroma and rich flavor, they import ingredients directly from Malaysia. Awarded the Michelin Bib Gourmand since 2022 – and yes, it’s always packed during meal times! We were 2 adults + 1 kid, ordered 5 dishes + 1 milk tea 🧋 – ~$30 per person. 🚫 Not Recommended: 🐓 Hainanese Chicken Rice ⭐ Labeled as “best seller” but the chicken was dry and bland, and the rice lacked flavor. We tried to convince ourselves it might be the “Singapore style”… but no, it was just disappointing. 🍲 Bak Kut Teh (Herbal Pork Rib Soup) ⭐⭐ Not what I expected. As I’m pregnant, I only had a small bowl – and the baby started kicking 🦵 Looked it up later: the soup contains blood-activating herbs, and the medicinal taste is strong. Avoid if you’re not into herbal broths! ✅ Recommended Dishes: 🍞 Kaya Butter Toast ⭐⭐⭐⭐ A pleasant surprise! Sweet butter inside, crispy toasted bread outside – simple but delicious. 🫓 Roti Canai ⭐⭐⭐ Crispy outside, soft inside – not spicy. The dipping sauce was milder than expected, but still tasty. Would go well with rice. 🍗 Salt & Pepper Chicken Wings ⭐⭐⭐ You can choose spicy or non-spicy. We went non-spicy for the kiddo – big mistake! Go for spicy – they’re perfectly fried, but the non-spicy version lacked that “soul” in flavor. 🅿️ Parking is a hassle – the location is not convenient. Overall, we probably won’t be back anytime soon. 📍 Ipoh Kopitian 1411 S Garfield Ave #104, Alhambra, CA 91801 #RestaurantReview #LAFood #AlhambraEats #LAChineseFood #MichelinEats 🥢✨
