Alila Big Sur Breakfast Experience ☕️

We finally got to try breakfast at The Sur House! While their dinner is definitely the star of the show 🌟, the breakfast and lunch menus are more on the simple, classic American brunch side. Think familiar comfort food but with that stunning Big Sur backdrop! 🏞️ I decided to be a little adventurous and ordered the Big Sur Mushroom Tartine since it was the only dish on the menu I hadn’t tried before. It turned out to be a thick slice of artisanal bread 🍞 piled high with sautéed wild mushrooms 🍄 and a perfectly cooked sunny-side-up egg 🍳. It was a bit heavier on the oil than I expected, and I felt it could’ve used a touch more seasoning or herbs to really make it shine. My husband went for the Chicken Hash—a generous, hearty bowl filled with tender shredded chicken and potatoes 🍗. It had a nice kick from what tasted like a Mexican-style hot sauce, kinda reminiscent of Lao Gan Ma if you're familiar! The flavor was bold and satisfying, though maybe a bit strong first thing in the morning. We also got a small fruit plate 🍉 to balance things out—fresh, light, and just what we needed to cut through the richness.
