American Families
Pre-made and Frozen Foods: Many foods are ready-to-eat, just needing to be microwaved or heated in the oven. This is quite different from China, where my family bought fresh groceries almost daily. In the US, people can buy food for a week or two and store it in the fridge. I personally dislike microwaved broccoli! 🥦 Raw Vegetables: Many vegetables in the US can be eaten raw and don’t even need to be washed, like bell peppers, baby carrots, lettuce, and spinach. My host family eats these often. At first, I didn’t like raw veggies, but now I enjoy them.🥓 More Chicken and Beef, Less Pork: Americans eat more chicken and beef, and less pork. They also eat a lot of salads with different dressings. In China, I rarely ate salads, but I’ve gotten used to them here. Food prices in the US are not very high. For example, a large box of strawberries or blueberries that lasts a week costs about $5-$6, and a large box of meat for a family of seven costs $10-$15. Eating in the US is not particularly expensive.🥩 #American Families
