An American-Chinese Spot That Won Over My Coworkers! 🥟
I’d been hesitant to try this place since it’s known for American-style Chinese food, but when my U.S. coworkers picked it for a birthday lunch, I finally gave it a go – and it totally won them over! The vibe is simple and lively, with that classic casual Chinese restaurant feel. We went at noon, and it was already busy – a line was forming by the time we left! 🍚 Chicken Fried Rice A solid American-style fried rice – not too greasy, with separated grains. Pretty good! 🥬 Dry-Fried Green Beans Well-seasoned, though I’d have liked them crispier. My coworkers loved them as-is, though. 🐖 Fried Pork Tenderloin Surprisingly delicious! Dark on the outside but crispy and fragrant, with tender meat inside and a hint of cumin. A win! 🥟 Pork Dumplings These were great – way better than Mian’s (whose filling is too dense, like a meatball). The wrapper was just right, and the filling was juicy and well-seasoned. ✅ Recommended! 🥢 Soup Dumplings (Xiaolongbao) My favorite! Thin skin, rich broth, and fresh meat – even better than Duck & Dumpling’s version. ✅ Highly recommended! 叉 Char Siu Bao (BBQ Pork Bun) Soft and fluffy bun, but the filling was just okay – a bit salty. 👍 Decent. 🦐 Shrimp Dumplings (Har Gow) A bit fishy for my taste – not as good as Golden Wok’s. ❌ Skip ’em. 🐰 Cute Rabbit Custard Buns Soft, sweet, and adorable! Kids would love these. 👶 Sweet treat alert! 🎂 Birthday Surprise They brought out a cookie cake (super sweet – classic U.S. style 😂) and sang for the birthday coworker, who was thrilled! Overall, Luscious Dumplings knows its audience – and my American team can’t wait to go back! #LusciousDumplings #SanAntonioEats #AmericanChinese #DumplingLovers #BirthdayBash
