A San Antonio Gem Unveiled: Luscious Dumplings Delivers a Flavor Explosion!
San Antonio's culinary scene just got a whole lot more exciting with the grand opening of Luscious Dumplings this past weekend! And let me tell you, even with a still-developing menu, this place is already a must-visit. Despite their very recent launch, the quality and sheer deliciousness of what they do offer are nothing short of phenomenal. While the dumpling selection is wonderfully focused due to their fresh start, each offering is a masterpiece. The pork soup dumplings are an absolute revelation. Delicate wrappers cradle an explosion of savory broth and perfectly seasoned pork, making every bite a mini-adventure. But if you're feeling adventurous, the blue crab and pork soup dumplings elevate the experience even further, with the sweet notes of crab adding a layer of sophisticated flavor that is simply unforgettable. And it's not just about the dumplings! The pork belly noodles are a revelation in themselves. Tender, melt-in-your-mouth pork belly is tossed with perfectly cooked noodles and a sauce that is both rich and perfectly balanced. It's comfort food taken to an art form. To complete your meal, Luscious Dumplings also boasts an impressive selection of boba teas. Their commitment to quality shines through here as well, particularly with their dirty brown sugar milk teas. The rich, caramelized sweetness of the brown sugar swirls beautifully with the creamy milk tea, creating a truly addictive beverage that I could drink all day. Luscious Dumplings has burst onto the San Antonio scene with an immediate impact. The limited but incredibly refined menu showcases a dedication to quality and flavor that is rarely seen in such a new establishment. I cannot wait to see what other culinary delights they'll introduce as they settle in. Do yourself a favor and get to Luscious Dumplings – your taste buds...
Read moreOur server Alan is the dream staff! It was our 1st time and he described the menu in detail. He shared what the icons meant. He informed us estimated wait times since dumplings are made to order. He even asked if we had any dietary restrictions and then double checked about food allergies or milk intolerances. My kids rate it 6 stars if there were more stars than 5! Our mango binsu was delayed but Alan made sure they were on it and kept us updated, honestly. They sing happy birthday (we saw another party). One can get a free dumpling keychain for sharing a review. My kids want to come back soon. We will definitely bring friends and family.
We love that there are other options besides dumplings only. My spouse and son ordered ramen, my daughter and I ordered 3 different dumplings (soup dumplings come with a delicious house sauce and ginger shreds/matchsticks), and we shared 2 appetizers (string bean and woodear mushrooms). The woodear mushrooms have a weird odor but taste great (friendly reminder: many east Asian dishes shouldn't be smelt first)! We also ordered 2 different black teas that weren't too sweet. The mango binsu was perfect! Not too sweet until the very bottom with the extra syrup. We even got the custard buns, which were fresh and lightly sweet. All 5 of us enjoyed everything (even our picky middle child).
We are so excited some place like this finally exists in San Antonio! We can't wait to come back. Hopefully, we get Alan again! Even our hostess, Alyssa, was kind and helpful. She gave us seating options and double-checked with us on high chair preferences.
Ask for seasonal and/or no spicy options. Some menu items come spicy, such as woodear mushrooms. Kitchen was able to make our order without the chili pepper. Thank you for the great 1st impressions and authentic Chinese flavors!
We spent ~$150-160 after taxes and tips...
Read moreHad the chance to come here for their grand opening and it was amazing. The place was hopping, but the staff was skillfully handle everything artfully. I was able to get a seat immediately by the bar since I was solo (also where you can order to-go).
They have an array of amazing looking drinks, but by suggestion I went with the Very Strawberry Cheese Foam which was awesome. Not too sweet and refreshing.
Starting off with pork soup steamed dumplings, hot and sour dumplings, stewed pork belly, and a kids egg fried rice. Every way so fresh and tasted great. Good consistency and flavor. The hot and sour broth went well with everything, couldn't get enough. Good filling to dumplings ratios and bursting with flavor. The pork belly, a bit fatty as it should be, was falling apart and had an amazing flavor. The braised egg was good, not my favorite but still good flavor. The rice was not too heavy or grease and complimented the food well.
I finished with bingsu (shaved ice). I was very lucky and they were kind enough to do a mango and strawberry for me because I couldn't decide. Such a wonderful fruity and creamy experience. Definitely a different texture which just added to the experience.
Finally the Little Piggyill Buns which were far too adorable. Light and fluffy with an amazingly flavorful custard inside.
I got to chat with Jasmine who helped me with decisions. She was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. She explained that some items cannot be taken to-go, because they will not last in the containers to travel without falling apart or getting soggy, I really love the integrity and dedication to not serve it in a manner that would cause an unpleasant experience. Everyone was friendly and helpful, even with the crazyness. I'll have to come back, so much...
