Around Irvine | 🍣 USUKI Japanese Cuisine

It’s the weekend again, so I brought my partner and kid to Usuki Japanese Cuisine in Tustin – a low-key spot that won’t wow you at first bite, but grows on you with every dish. We ordered casually, and everything was solid. To keep it light on carbs, we went for the largest sashimi platter – generously thick cuts, truly good value! Three of us ate for $120, and still had sushi to take home. 🐟 Sashimi Combination The #1 highlight of the meal. Thick, clean slices with natural sweetness – no fishiness, mushiness, or excess moisture. The salmon had perfect fat content, the tuna was firm, and the quality spoke for itself. Served with dry ice for a cool presentation effect. ❄️ 🌸 R7 Cherry Blossom Roll A sweet-sounding roll with a refreshing taste. The outer fish layer stays tender without falling apart, wrapped around avocado and crab meat – a light, layered bite without heavy sauce. 🍣 R2 Zen Sashimi Roll No rice here – just a generous stack of sashimi for a rich, satisfying mouthful. Mostly fish with light seasoning – raw fish lovers will enjoy this one. 🍱 3 Items Dinner (for the kiddo) Great value combo with three solid choices: 🍗 Chicken Teriyaki – Well-balanced sweet-savory glaze, slightly charred outside, tender inside. Not overly saucy. 🌶️ Spicy Tuna Roll – Classic and well-made, with fresh tuna and well-balanced spice. 🍤 Mixed Tempura – Crispy, light batter that isn’t oily. The shrimp was springy, veggies crisp – served with dipping sauce. Kid-approved! 👶 🍨 Tempura Ice Cream (Vanilla) A must for dessert lovers like me. Hot, crispy outer shell with cold, creamy vanilla ice cream inside – that hot-cold contrast is addictive. Not a miss. Overall, Usuki doesn’t try to be flashy, but delivers where it counts – fresh ingredients and precise execution. Perfect for when you want authentic Japanese flavors without anything too heavy. #TustinEats #IrvineFood #LAJapanese #SushiRecommendation #SashimiLover #TustinFoodFinds
