Auckland CBD’s New Gem 🍣•᎔•🥢 — Incredible Omakase Experience!
My bestie 👭 and I booked ahead to try Kureta, Auckland’s brand-new omakase spot—nestled on the ground floor of JW Marriott Hotel. As soon as we walked in, we were hooked by the intimate, cozy ambiance 🥹—total perfection for catching up with a friend over delicious food, chatting away without feeling rushed. We went for the $150 Elemental Course + $100 Wine Pairing—and let me tell you, the wine pairings were next-level! Each glass perfectly complemented the dish it accompanied, so elegant and flavorful. If you’re a wine lover (shoutout to my fellow 8+1 enthusiasts! 🍷), this add-on is a MUST. It took the whole experience to another level—10/10 recommend! The menu features 10 courses total, and here are my absolute faves (I’m still dreaming about them!): 🍮 Chawanmushi (Steamed Egg Custard) — MY TOP PICK & UNDERDOG FAVE 🐶This custard was insanely silky, smooth, and jiggly—one bite and I was blown away! 🤤 I’m dying to know the recipe; it’s hands down the best chawanmushi I’ve had in Auckland. Topped with truffle cream and Hokkaido scallops, the rich black truffle aroma lingered beautifully—pure luxury in every spoonful. 🍉 Spicy Watermelon Gazpacho with Skull Island Tiger Prawn 🦐What a unique combo! Juicy tiger prawns paired with zesty Mexican-style tomato sauce, nori, and the natural sweetness of watermelon—tangy, spicy, and refreshing all at once. The flavors danced on my tongue, and it was such a creative, unexpected highlight. 🥩 Japanese A5 Wagyu YakishabuThinly sliced A5 wagyu seared to perfection on a hot plate—melt-in-your-mouth tender! 🥹 Topped with uni sauce and caviar, the richness was balanced perfectly. Paired with the 2024 Folium Sauvignon Blanc, every sip and bite felt like a little celebration—total indulgence. 🍹 Yuzu GranitaTart, sweet, and incredibly refreshing—bursting with bright yuzu flavor! 🍋 Paired with Heiwa Yuzu Sake, the citrusy notes doubled down, cleansing our palates beautifully before dessert. 🍵 Matcha CheesecakeAuthentic matcha flavor—not too sweet, not too bitter, just right! The texture was creamy and smooth, served with red bean paste and a dollop of sea salt cream on top. It was the perfect sweet ending to our meal 🔚. We tried 7 different wines/sakes throughout the night—each one curated so thoughtfully. The 2-hour dining experience (we booked the 5:30pm slot) flew by; we left full, happy, and already planning our next visit. If you’re looking for a fancy yet warm date spot or a special catch-up with friends, Kureta is a total winner. 📅 Operating Hours: Tuesday-Saturday (two seatings: 5:30pm & 7:30pm)📍 Address: 22/26 Albert Street, Auckland CentralPro tip: Book in advance—this spot is gonna get popular fast! #AucklandOmakase #JapaneseCuisine #AucklandCBDFood #FoodieFind #OmakaseLove #AucklandEats #DateNightAuckland #SushiLovers
