Austin Texas Food | Michelin One-Star Southern BBQ ⭐️

You can't visit Texas without trying authentic Southern American barbecue! 🤠 As a major meat-producing state in the U.S., Texas takes its barbecue seriously. This time, I made a special trip to the acclaimed LeRoy and Lewis, a Michelin one-star spot that started as a food truck and now has its own brick-and-mortar location. The décor totally channels that classic American road trip diner vibe — full of character and charm! 🛣️ 🍖 What We Ordered & Tasting Notes: Bacon Rib Tender enough to melt in your mouth 😋, with the pork skin perfectly intact. After smoking, the collagen-rich texture literally sticks to your lips and teeth — in the best way possible! The seasoning delivers that classic bacon flavor, though it's slightly sweeter than typical breakfast bacon. The smokiness is just right — not overpowering. Our cut had a higher fat ratio, but it wasn't overly greasy. Brisket Really well executed — not overly seasoned, which made it a perfect match for the house-made BBQ sauce 🥫. This brisket leans toward the leaner side, so you won't get that heavy, greasy mouthfeel, but it still retains plenty of beefy richness and aroma. German Sausage (October Special) Strong peppery notes and on the saltier side. The casing offers a snappy, red sausage-like texture — a solid pick for those who prefer bold flavors. 🥗 Side Dish Reviews: Kale Slaw Refreshing and light! 🌿 Compared to typical coleslaw, the dressing is used sparingly, making it an ideal palate cleanser between rich, smoky bites of meat. Chips The low point of the meal — extremely salty. 😅 I'd recommend trying one of their other sides instead. 💡 Pro Tips: While the Beef Rib is a signature item, it's also widely available elsewhere. Don't miss their unique Bacon Rib! 🥓 The 2 Meat Plate is a great sharing option for two, letting you mix and match meats and sides. Visit during off-peak hours to avoid long waits. ⏰ All in all, LeRoy and Lewis truly lives up to its Michelin star — especially when it comes to seasoning and smoking technique. The Bacon Rib, in particular, is an unforgettable experience. A must-try for anyone visiting Austin! 🤩 #LifeInTheUS #TexasEats #AustinFoodGuide #MichelinStar #SouthernBBQ #FoodDiary #BBQLovers #FoodieAdventure
