Bay Area — Mountain View | The Ultimate Tres Leches Cake

This place is a long‑time favorite — when I first moved to the Bay, a friend wanted to drive us from the South Bay to San Francisco just to eat here. Luckily, a branch opened near us soon after! Flavor is outstanding, consistency is solid, seating is cozy (and lively — people chat loudly, very casual vibes). Great for dates or casual hangs. Been here too many times — sharing last night’s meal. Since the title is “ultimate tres leches,” let’s start with dessert! 🍰 Tres Leches Cake (Pic 2 — sorry for the awkward photo 😅) I’m usually not big on desserts except dairy and ice cream, but tres leches is my favorite sweet. Limón’s version is the most balanced and delicious I’ve had. Sponge cake is fluffy, soaked repeatedly with the “three milks” — evaporated milk, condensed milk, and heavy cream (or whole milk) in nearly equal parts. Topped with a light sprinkle of cinnamon (I don’t eat cinnamon — thanks to my partner for scraping it off!) and drizzled with caramel sauce. So. Good. 🍧 Mango Panna Cotta That’s the first photo — silky sweet cream pudding with mango purée. Creamy, smooth, pretty, and not too sweet — a flawless dessert. 🦐 Peruvian Aji Amarillo Seafood Ceviche (Mixto Amarillo) I love tangy flavors, so I’m all about Latin‑style ceviche. They call the marinade “tiger’s milk” — seems universal! Aji amarillo peppers bring a fruity, slightly spicy note that pairs perfectly with the citrusy marinade. Their seafood is always fresh (the place is always packed). 🥟 Mushroom‑Stuffed Fried Empanadas (Veggie) The mushroom filling has a hint of truffle, paired with Oaxaca cheese — low saltiness, rich and aromatic. Also tried chicken and beef versions before, but the mushroom one is my favorite. 🥘 Spicy Seafood Stew (Picante de Mariscos) Peruvian seafood stew is different from the Italian kind — the broth uses Aji Panca peppers, giving it a smoky, creamy richness. Includes shrimp, squid, mussels, clams, and Peruvian scallops, served with a bowl of fragrant steamed rice. 🥩 Grilled Beef Tongue (Lengua) A dish that’s been shrinking in portion to keep the price low — but the tongue is grilled so well, I always order it. Used to be thick, generous cuts at opening; now it’s three thin slices (might need one order per person to share). Slow‑braised then grilled — tender with a delicious char. 🍸 Drinks: The pink one is Lycheemelon — lychee‑flavored pisco (Peruvian/Chilean grape‑based brandy), very smooth and comes in a huge glass. The yellow one is Bomba del Amor — vodka‑based with peach purée and lemon juice — also delicious. 📍 Limón 800 California St, Mountain View, CA 94041 #BayAreaEats #TresLeches #PeruvianFood #MountainView #FoodieFaves 🍰🦐
