🚌 Belfast DIY Day Trip by Bus
Route: Belfast City → Giant’s Causeway → Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge Cost for two: £40.8 Duration: 9:20am – 4:50pm Since we missed booking a tour and weren’t interested in all the spots included in group packages, this flexible DIY bus route was perfect for us 👌! Sharing for those who prefer a self-paced adventure: Belfast → Giant’s Causeway Take Bus #221 direct – about 1.5 hours one way. 📍 Starts at Europa Bus Centre (beside Great Victoria St Station). We boarded at a stop on High St (right outside Lidl 🛒). The final stop is Giant’s Causeway Nook. 🔑 Key Tips: 1️⃣ Only two departures daily: 9:25am & 10:25am (stops in the city are ~5 mins later). Return trips: 3:10pm & 4:10pm. 2️⃣ Bring CASH 💰! Translink buses on this route don’t accept contactless payment. 3️⃣ Round-trip ticket: £15.8 per adult. Once you arrive, you can use the restroom at Causeway Hotel 🚻 (pass through the Visitor Center – no need to buy a ticket unless you want the shuttle bus or audio guide!). From the hotel, walk up the grassy slope to see the sea 🌊. Take the blue trail along the coast to the stones – it’s the classic route! We spent about 40 mins round-trip on this trail. Giant’s Causeway → Rope Bridge Hop on Bus #401a to Carrick-a-Rede. 🔑 Round-trip: £9.2 per adult – CASH ONLY ❗️ We spent 2 hours at the rope bridge 😍 – stunning views! Would’ve been perfect with sunshine ☀️. Caught the 2:30pm bus back to the Causeway, then the 3:10pm #221 to Belfast. Arrived downtown around 4:50pm – plenty of time to explore a bit before heading to the airport ✈️. #GiantsCauseway #Belfast #CarrickARede #BelfastTravel #DIYTravel #NorthernIreland
