Benagil Caves｜A Dream Come True! 🌊✨

Finally, it’s no longer just a picture I saw through a screen—the moment I first discovered this place, I added it to my must-visit bucket list. And it did not disappoint—it truly gave me some of the most unforgettable memories. 💙📸 We stayed in a hotel in Lagos, a lovely seaside town surrounded by ocean views. I’d recommend booking somewhere near the beach—just steps away from the sand! 🏖️ Lagos is about 40 minutes from Benagil. If you mainly want to explore the caves, it’s even better to stay in Carvoeiro—only a 10-minute drive and such a beautiful little town! 🚗🌅 There are two main ways to explore the caves: speedboat tours and kayaking (kayak). Both are worth trying, but you’ll need to plan your time carefully—tide times vary, and schedules can overlap. 🚤 Speedboat Tour – €20 for 30 minutes, visiting 6–7 caves with guided commentary. No need to book in advance—just take a taxi to Benagil Beach, and you’ll see ticket stalls right there. Boats hold around 10 people. They’ll briefly enter each cave—you can take photos from the boat, but you won’t get off. 🛶 Kayaking – €26 for 2 hours (standard price online). Requires advance booking. I’d recommend an early slot—you can even catch the sunrise! Fewer people and less sun. We booked the 9:30 am slot, and it was fantastic—only six people in our group, so we were lucky to have a guide leading the way. Beginners can easily tip over, so be careful! Different tours start from different beaches—we began at Albandeira Beach (a gorgeous, quiet spot perfect for sunbathing 🏝️), then kayaked along the coast to Benagil Cave. The guide shared stories along the way. We stored our bags and phones in waterproof pouches, so taking photos wasn’t easy mid-trip. At the cave, we got out to take pictures before paddling back.
