Benagil Caves | Dream time
đ Benagil Caves: From Screen to RealityâA Bucket List Dream Come True Finally, itâs no longer just a picture Iâve seen through a screen. The first time I stumbled upon this place, I added it to my âmust-visit before I dieâ list. And it didnât disappointâtruly, it left me with the most unforgettable memories. đ đ¨ Where to Stay: Lagos vs. Carvoeiro We booked our hotel in Lagos, a town surrounded by sea on all sides. Pro tip: Stay near the coastâyouâll reach the beach in just a few steps. đď¸ Lagos: 40 minutes by car from Benagil Caves. Great if you want to explore a lively, coastal town. Carvoeiro: Only 10 minutes from Benagil. A tiny, stunning townâmuch closer if youâre focused solely on the caves. đ đ¤ Two Ways to Explore the Caves Both activities are worth trying, but plan your timingâsea access hours are variable, and schedules might clash. â° Speedboat Tour Price: âŹ20 for 30 minutes. What you get: Visits 6â7 caves with live commentary. No need to book aheadâjust head to Benagil Cave beach (ticket booth is right there). đď¸ Details: Boats hold ~10 people. Youâll glide into each cave for a quick peek, and can snap photos the whole time (no disembarking). đ¸ Kayaking (Kayak) Price: âŹ26 for 2 hours (standard rate on Google). Book ahead! Early slots are bestâcatch sunrise for fewer crowds and cooler weather. đ We got a 9:30 AM spot, and it was perfect. Our experience: Only 6 people in our group, so we had a guide to help paddle (beginners, bewareâcapsizing is easy! đ ). We started at Albandeira Beach (a quiet, beautiful spot for post-kayak relaxing), then paddled to Benagil Cave. Note: Phones/bags go into waterproof pouches (hard to take photos mid-paddle), but youâll land at the iconic cave (p1) to snap shots before heading back. Sore arms? Yes. Worth it? Absolutely. đŞ #benagilcave #SouthPortugal #BeachAdventures #CaveExploration
