Berlin | Dicke Wirtin (The Fat Hostess)

I heard this restaurant has a long history, so I specifically took a taxi to try it. We ordered four dishes: a cold platter for two, beef with pasta, apple liver, and sausage. 🍽️✨ The meat jelly in the cold dishes was really delicious—I’d recommend ordering just the meat jelly instead of the platter. The platter included a small dish of paste with a strong lard flavor, which I didn’t enjoy much. 🥓👎 The liver was just okay—not as amazing as people made it out to be, but still worth a try. I took a bite of the apple on top, but it had almost no apple flavor left, probably all soaked into the sauce. However, there were several slices of liver, and the portion was generous. 🍎🍖 The beef with pasta was unanimously our favorite among the four dishes—it’s hard to go wrong with it. The beef was very tender. 🍝🥩 The sausage was pretty ordinary . 🌭😐 I heard their braised pork knuckle is famous, but we’re not big fans of pork knuckle, so we didn’t order it. However, the portions on nearby tables looked huge—definitely recommended for two people to share . 🐖🍴 The restaurant has a great ambiance , but it’s quite small and gets crowded, so it can feel a bit cramped. If you plan to go, make sure to reserve in advance ! 🕰️📅 #Berlin #DickeWirtin #Restaurant #TheFatHostess
