The famous Wolfgang Puckโs Spago โ an iconic LA two-Michelin-starred spot, one of the cityโs original restaurants.๐๐ Hearth Baked / Bread Box โ Bread basket trio Best was the buckwheat baguette โ chewy, paired with Vermont butter, addictive. Dark seeded rye was average โ not worth coming here for. Rosemary-sumac Carta di Muaica โ like a thin cracker, heavy spices, a bit oily.๐๐ Overall fine, but not worth $26. Big Eye Tuna Cones Crispy sesame-miso cone filled with sweet-spicy garlic aioli, tuna, and flying fish roe โ refreshing and light. This is on the bar menu โ you have to ask for it specifically. House Cured Smoked Salmon Pizza Tried their smoked salmon pizza โ decent but nothing standout. Also from the bar menu โ order directly from the server. Liberty Duck Breast Finally, a skill-tester! We went medium โ tender, smooth, subtly fruity-sweet but with a hint of duck gaminess.๐ If sensitive to that, ask for more well-done. Surprisingly generous โ three large pieces, served over wrapped Korean kimchi โ creative pairing. Austrian Wienerschnitzel Never tried this style before, so gave it a go. Served as two large plates (kitchen split them for convenience) โ looked a bit IKEA-style with sides: jam, cucumber salad, potato salad, beetroot salad, lemon.๐๐ Beef texture was surprisingly good โ tasty despite humble plating. Kaiserschmarrn (Austrian Emperor Pancake) The pancake itself was delicious โ not too sweet, texture between soufflรฉ and pancake, like a fluffy egg cake. Paired with raspberry-chocolate ice cream and almond slices โ lovely surprise. Bottom strawberry jam was a bit too sweet. Dark Chocolate Soufflรฉ Warm, rich, high-calorie satisfaction โ with ice cream and cream. Tasty but less exciting compared to the pancake. #LALife #LosAngeles #LA #FrenchCuisine #LAFood #LAEats #VibeyWesternFood #DateNightSpot
