Bhutan Solo Travel 🇧🇹 | Le Méridien Thimphu

1. First up: the breakfast at Le Méridien Thimphu. It’s... not great. 😟😊 It’s hard to describe, but “disappointing” is an understatement. There are few options, dishes are lukewarm, and nothing feels memorable. For a hotel of this brand, it feels like an afterthought, not a carefully crafted meal. 2. The local Bhutanese dishes here were even more underwhelming. 😒👍 Maybe it’s a matter of personal taste, but the flavors were lackluster—no bold spices, no depth. Ema Datshi, usually a highlight, was bland, and the red rice missed that nutty freshness you find in local eateries. 3. On the bright side, the lounge is fantastic. ✨ It’s inviting, well-stocked, and has a vibe that makes you want to linger. The snacks are on point: crispy fries, mini sliders, and fresh fruit platters. Pair that with a cold drink, and the breakfast letdowns become easy to overlook. 4. The lounge staff deserve praise too—attentive without being overbearing. They’ll even recommend local drinks to try, which adds a nice personal touch. It’s become my favorite spot to relax after a day exploring Thimphu. ❤️👏 5. Location-wise, the hotel is handy—close enough to downtown to walk to markets and landmarks, but far enough to escape the noise. Rooms are clean and comfortable, with decent views of the surrounding hills. 🏞️ 6. Would I stay again? Possibly—for the lounge and the location. But if food is a big priority, set your expectations low. Le Méridien Thimphu has its ups (that lounge!) and downs (breakfast, local dishes). It’s a mixed bag, but the positives just about make it worth it. 😐 #BhutanTravel #LeMeridienThimphu #SoloTripBhutan #TravelDiaries
