Big Island, Hawaii Food Guide π¦ππ¦ππ
From rich Kona coffee to fresh abalone and comforting noodle soups β the Big Island surprised us with its diverse and delicious food scene! Hereβs a tasty recap of our culinary journey: π½οΈ Kona Eats π₯ Fire Art Chinese Restaurant π Near Kona Airport A Sichuan-style gem! We ordered: Suan Cai Yu (Fish with Pickled Mustard Greens) Dry-Fried Green Beans π± (so flavorful and crispy!) Mapo Tofu Everything was delicious, and the ingredients tasted super fresh. A comforting taste of home in Hawaii! βοΈ Kona Coffee & Tea Company We came specifically to try 100% Kona coffee beans. Mocha was smooth and satisfying Drip coffee had a mild, pleasant flavor β not overly bold The space is cozy and busy even early in the morning You can buy bags of freshly roasted beans to take home π Located near KFC & Burger King β easy to grab breakfast nearby! π TK Noodles π Top-rated noodle spot on the Big Island! We tried: Beef Bone Noodle Soup π (rich and hearty) Oxtail Udon Beef Pho All were generously portioned. The beef ribs were tender and flavorful β highly recommend! π‘ Tip: You can swap the noodle type β we preferred the thin rice noodles (pho) or ramen. π« Skip the boba or Thai tea β not their strong suit. π Abalone Farm Recently reopened under new management! We tried: Abalone Sashimi β incredibly fresh and delicate Garlic Butter Grilled Abalone β tasty but a bit chewy A unique experience for seafood lovers! ποΈ Hilo & Volcano Park Eats π Tetsumen Ramen A local-approved ramen shop! We tried: Spicy Tan Tan Men πΆοΈ Classic Chashu Ramen Cold Ramen Perfect for those craving warm, comforting bowls β very βChinese-friendlyβ flavors. π Pineapple Restaurant A popular spot for Hawaiian-Western fusion with live ukulele music at night! We ordered: Pineapple Burger π (just okay) Seafood Pasta π (sauce was delicious!) Garlic Shrimp The vibe was fun, but the pineapple cocktail didnβt come in a pineapple β maybe a daytime thing? π Uncle Georgeβs Lounge (Volcano National Park) Pizza was overcooked and hard Fish & Chips and Asian-style Shrimp Plate were average But the view of the volcano from the dining area was stunning! π‘ Better idea: Grab coffee and sit in the lounge area between the restaurant and gift shop β same epic view, less wait. π¦ Sweet Treats & Snacks π¨ Il Gelato Hawaii π Inside International Market Place (WaikΔ«kΔ«) β right side food court We tried Dragon Fruit + Pistachio β creamy, fruity, and refreshing! π Dole Plantation Soft Serve Located next to the gift shop β you canβt leave without trying the famous pineapple soft serve! Use the kiosk to order in Chinese β sweet, tangy, and perfect on a warm day. π Honorable (or Not-so-Honorable) Mention Marugame Udon in Hilo β The line moved fast, and it was worth a try, but not a must-eat. #BigIslandEats #KonaCoffee #VolcanoDining #HawaiianFood #TravelAndEat
