Blue Duck Tavern | Washington, D.C.
✅ Recommended by Michelin and Obama, the dining atmosphere here is quite nice, but the dishes are pretty average and don't justify the prices. If you come here, it's mainly for the ambiance. ✅ Crab Cakes: The first one tastes good with the sweet and fresh crab meat noticeable, but by the second one, it starts to feel greasy. There's too little Tartar Sauce, and the crab meat has a lot of those tiny, clear bone fragments. One order is enough at $58. ✅ Hand-Cut BDT Triple Fries: Mashed potatoes shaped into large fries and then fried. The idea is good, but choosing mashed potatoes or fries alone might be tastier instead of combining them. It ends up with the downsides of both—oily and greasy at $15. ✅ Duck Smoked & Roasted Breast: A bit disappointing. The dish isn't well-executed. The skin isn't crispy, and the expected aroma is missing. The fat part is just fatty without any flavor, and the seasoning is a bit light. Overall, not recommended at $55. ✅ The pre-meal bread comes in two types, both with odd seasonings. I can't recall the exact flavors, but I didn't like them. Maybe they're waiting for their connoisseur. The butter is just ordinary. ✅ BTW, why does the auto-generated tag have this #wildboarcan'teatsweetbran fun thing. #FoodDiary #DCFoodRecommendation #EnjoyingFoodTogether #RestaurantRecommendation #WashingtonTravel #MichelinRestaurant
