Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve 🌿🕊️

When you can’t chase distant poems and far-off places, embrace the nature, ocean, and sunlight right nearby. On a Sunday morning, a few friends and I met up at the Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve in Huntington Beach. We watched wild waterbirds, took photos of plants and flowers, and wandered wherever our hearts led. Breathing in the fresh air, feeling the gentle breeze, we let nature and life resonate in quiet moments. Gazing at the lush greenery in the distance, the world suddenly felt so peaceful. In moments of solitude, I read, I reflect. Beautiful things and meaningful connections require mutual recognition—like hailing a taxi: you have to raise your hand for it to stop. Sometimes, we’re not just living in a single moment, but learning to embrace the gentleness that each season offers, even after life’s many ups and downs. 📍 A bit about the location and surroundings: North of Bolsa Chica lies the Seal Beach National Wildlife Refuge. This wetland was once part of a vast marsh ecosystem, later nourished by the Santa Ana River, and eventually merged with the Pacific Ocean—slowly forming the rich ecological sanctuary it is today. We enjoyed a misty morning immersed in nature, with inspiring views of coastal homes along the way. It’s a paradise for photographers too: along the reed beds, you can spot wild ducks, terns, owls, egrets, snow plovers, and more. A bridge and boardwalk let you observe these birds up close. Our route covered about 6.5 miles round trip, following dirt trails along tributaries flowing into the Pacific. The coastal scenery was stunning. We hiked all the way to Bolsa Chica State Beach, and on our return, we even spotted some beautiful vintage cars in a nearby neighborhood! 🚗💨 Have you visited Bolsa Chica or another calming natural spot lately?
