Boston|The Night I Gave a Public Speech in a Ramen Shop
After happily devouring a rich, oily, and salty bowl of pork ramen that warmed up the winter night, I unexpectedly found myself easily sharing my dream inside this tiny shop with only 18 seats and bustling staff. Yume Wo Katare is a ramen shop in the Porter area of Boston. The menu here has only one item: pork ramen. Your only choices are the number of pork slices (two or five) or a vegetarian option. The hidden special is their secret spicy sauce 🌶️, but the real "must-order" is—sharing your dream. When ordering, the staff will always ask with a smile, "Would you like to share your dream today?" If yes, you'll receive a small sign that says Dreamer 🎫. 🍜 About the Ramen: The focus is on generous portions and bold flavors! I really liked the irregular thickness of the handmade noodles—they had a great chew. The bean sprouts and cabbage added a refreshing crunch, keeping the rich broth from feeling too heavy. The pork was tender and flavorful. My order of two slices was just right, while my friend who ordered five was completely stuffed... (And we were starving when we arrived! I also chose "less noodles," which smaller eaters can consider~) 🕒 The Wait: The shop has only 3 rows, with 6 seats each, totaling 18 seats, so there's often a line. Seating is done row by row, so the wait can be a bit longer. We went during off-peak hours at 5:30 PM and still waited 30–40 minutes. But the ramen was delicious, and everyone agreed it was worth it! ⏳ ☁️ The Dream Moment: After everyone finishes eating, the staff will quiet the room and begin the dream-sharing session. If you don't have a dream to share, they'll rate your bowl based on how much you ate: Perfect (empty bowl) or Good job (some broth left). We didn't encounter anyone who left noodles this time, so I'm not sure what they'd say haha. Those who shared their dreams were sometimes nervous and stumbling, others spoke with loud, resonant voices, and some told their stories softly... but without exception, they all seemed to breathe a sigh of relief afterward, with a light in their eyes. ✨ This time, we even met an uncle who was sharing the same dream for the third time on his third visit. I really hope he achieves it someday! While waiting for my friend, I kept looking up at the dream cards written by the staff on the ceiling and couldn't help but laugh— (But honestly, I also want my own patent, and I want to dream the seemingly impossible too 💡.) As we left, my friend and I talked about how this shop's business model is simple yet sustainably profitable, while also creating a warm, ideal little world—just like its unique concept. This is probably the kind of place I dreamed of opening as a child: one that can operate solidly while also creating an interesting culture. I left my dream here: "to publish a personal memoir someday." It will... come true, right? 📖 A truly fun and memorable dining experience—highly recommended! #StudyAbroadFoodExplorations #StudyAbroadEats #BostonLife #Ramen #BostonFood
