Boston dessert | kyo matcha is finally over
🍵 Kyo Matcha: Brookline’s Matcha Spot—Nice, But No Need to Go Out of Your Way I live nearby but held off until the hype died down… and it was worth the wait. The flavors are solid, though prices feel steep: two items clocked in at over $20. 🍦 Standouts (and Snags) Matcha Float ($8): 🥤 Half-sweet, so it’s not cloying—just smooth, slightly bitter matcha ice cream floating in soda. Tastes as good as Maiko’s version, but the portion’s tiny (lots of ice, not much drink). The joy fades fast. Ube Milk Cap Cake ($12): 🎂 My favorite. A dense, moist sponge cake with a pleasant sweetness (never overwhelming). The milk cap? Creamy, with bold ube flavor and balanced sugar. Perfect if you love sponge cakes—texturally satisfying, and the ube adds a fun, fruity twist. They offer other flavors too—worth trying. 📍 The Details Weekends are quiet now (no lines!), and weekdays are even slower. But stock is spotty: I wanted a towel cake roll, but they were sold out. Compared to Maiko, Kyo has more variety, and their matcha holds its own. Great for a casual stop if you’re in the area, but no need to plan a special trip. 1010 Beacon St, Brookline, MA 02446 #BostonDessert #MatchaLovers #BrooklineEats
