Boston Food Discovery|📍 Hao Shi Guang Restaurant
I recently stumbled upon this restaurant in Allston, Boston, and was immediately intrigued by the photo of their soft-fried shrimp! It’s said to be run by a restaurant owner originally from Qingdao who serves both Jiaodong and Northeastern Chinese cuisine. I tried five dishes, and none of them disappointed 🥂 🍤 Soft-Fried Shrimp The shrimp are deveined, tender, and come with two dipping sauces: salt-and-pepper mix and mayonnaise. The taste is exactly like the fried shrimp I remember from my childhood in Qingdao—a true nostalgic treat! 🍢 Grilled Lamb Skewers These were surprisingly good! Freshly grilled, juicy, and packed with flavor. Each skewer is thick and satisfying, offering great value for the price. 🍆 Stir-Fried Green Beans, Eggplant, and Pumpkin One of the best vegetable dishes I’ve had lately! The eggplant and pumpkin have a thin, crispy coating like candied sweet potatoes, with just the right touch of garlic and savory sauce—definitely worth trying. 🍲 Seafood Dough Ball Soup A comforting and flavorful soup, a must-try for anyone from Qingdao. It’s loaded with dried scallops and shrimp, though I wish there were clams in it too. 🥬 Northeastern-Style Big Sheet Noodles A beautifully presented dish, perfect for sharing. It’s topped with shredded egg, carrots, tofu skin, cucumber, wood ear mushrooms, and more, all tossed in a rich, authentic sesame sauce. The service was slow, likely due to being short-staffed, but the staff were very friendly and even carefully packed leftovers to go. I’ll definitely be returning to this spot! #BostonFood #AllstonEats
