Boston Food Tour | Must-Try Spots During Fall Break

My roommate and I visited Boston during fall break and tried almost all the highly recommended spots. Here’s our honest take: 📍 Tatte – Boston’s Famous Brunch Spot Practically everywhere in the city—just go to the closest one. My roommate’s top pick in Boston is their Roasted Salmon Winter Vegetable Rice Bowl 🍣. I tried their desserts—pretty standard. 🍓 Goat Cheese Tart looks photogenic but that’s about it. 🫐 Fruit Tart tastes fine but gets cloying after a few bites. 🥐 Pistachio Croissant is a hit with friends who love sweet pastries—filled with pistachio cream. Worth trying if you have a sweet tooth. 📍 The Daily Catch – Lobster Pasta 🦞 The lobster pasta tasted more like tomato sauce than expected. Overhyped, in my opinion—just okay, but looks good in photos. Squid Ink Pasta? A big NO—tasteless noodles swimming in oil. No idea why people recommend it. We were genuinely confused. 📍 Teaholic 🍇 Their grape tea is the best drink I’ve had in Boston after trying four different bubble tea spots! Way better than Zero’s “Two Grapeful” drink. Zero’s passion fruit tea isn’t great either—better off with Coco’s Passion Fruit Sparkler (though even that’s not amazing). We both regretted our orders at Zero—took one sip and called it quits. 📍 Noah's Kitchen No disappointments here—probably the best Chinese food we tried in Boston. Strongly recommend their Osmanthus Cake! Even the foreigners next to us ordered it after seeing ours. The Clams with Chicken is super flavorful and perfect with rice. Garlic Pea Shoots were decent—nothing extraordinary. 📍 JiangNan 🥠 As a Beijing native, I’d say their Peking Duck is fine if you’re craving it—not bad, just average. The other dishes are forgettable, though the ambiance is nice! 📍 Quincy Market – Chodwa 🦞 Our most divided opinion: my roommate hated their lobster roll, but I liked it—lobster was fresh and tasty. 🍋 Don’t forget to squeeze lemon over it—adds a nice tangy layer! 📍 Machi Machi 🥭 Hands down the best Mango Pomelo Sago I’ve had while studying abroad. If you love this drink, don’t miss it! The one from “Yan Cha” in Boston was pretty disappointing. 📍 Kyo Matcha 🍵 Matcha Crepe Roll—tasty but not mind-blowing. Hard to go wrong with this one though—safe choice! #Boston #BostonFood #BostonRestaurants #BostonFoodGuide #ChineseFood #StudyInTheUS
