Boston Life | A Healing Day Trip to Ogunquit, Maine
“🚗 Success! Boston office workers’ weekend escape plan worked! Left at 11:30 AM → arrived directly in the town at 1:30 PM A ‘nanny-level’ itinerary that lets you enjoy a vacation vibe with ~$150 per person 👇 🅿️ Parking Tips (Tested In-Person) Navigate directly to Perkins Cove Parking Lot—it’s right at the town entrance. The cost is $30/day ( 😭). ⚠️ But we noticed it still charged $25 after 5 PM (night owls, this is your move!). If you drive further into town, there’s a public parking lot that costs $6/hour, but it’s tiny and usually full—finding a spot is totally luck-based. There are also private parking lots nearby 🅿️, which cost $35/day (even more expensive). Don’t drive deep into the town on weekends—you’ll get stuck in traffic, and if you can’t find a spot, you’ll have to drive back out to Perkins Cove Parking Lot anyway. It’s just a 5-minute walk from the parking lot to the town’s popular lobster restaurant 🦞—total paradise for lobster lovers! 🦞 Barnacle Billy’s (Lobster Restaurant) We waited in line for 20 minutes and got an outdoor table—and the view was absolutely breathtaking! The 20-minute wait was 100% worth it: butter lobster roll + creamy clam chowder paired with a harbor view. Right behind the restaurant is the popular Arch Garden 🌺 (copy this photo spot from !). Originally, recommended the lobster rolls at Footbridge. But when we got there, we found Footbridge is a tiny spot with no dine-in option—so we headed back to Barnacle Billy’s, and it was the best call! 🌊 Post-Lunch Exploration After eating, we wandered through the nearby small shops and admired the oceanfront mansions 🏤. Marginal Way Cliff Walk It’s a 5-minute walk from the restaurant to the trailhead. The entrance is a bit hard to find, but it’s actually right behind Barnacle Billy’s parking lot. Along the entire walk, you’ll get endless photo ops: waves crashing against rocks from every angle + wildflowers lining the path 📸. 🌅 Sunset at Nubble Lighthouse We didn’t finish the entire cliff walk—instead, we hopped in the car to head to Nubble Lighthouse before sunset. Just navigate to Cape Neddick Lighthouse ("Nubble Lighthouse"). The lighthouse with the sunset was so romantic, it left us speechless 😭 ). 🌊 Thoughts on the Drive Back to Boston We were still reminiscing on the way back… Next time, we want to try the town’s tourist trolley or take a cruise along the coastline! 💡 Important Tips ✅ A day trip from Boston is more than enough—if you love it, just come back again! ✅ The wind by the sea is strong! Even in summer, bring a jacket. ✅ Check the sunset time in advance to plan your itinerary. After visiting the lighthouse, you can still drive back to Boston for dinner. 📌 Cost Breakdown Parking $30 + Lunch $85 + Gas $20 ≈ $135 per person #BostonLife #BostonDayTrips #MaineDayTrip #BostonWeekend #NorthAmericaHiddenGems #BeachPhotographyTips #LazyTravelGuide
