Boston Newbury St Matcha Shop Review

This store has been open for a while, and I finally had the chance to visit since returning to Boston. 🍵 Tried: Matcha Soft Serve Latte and Matcha Soft Serve Frappe The former is a classic matcha latte with matcha gelato, while the latter is more like a matcha frappé. Overall, it's a decent but not standout choice—these are rich, intense matcha drinks that will appeal more to bitter-matcha lovers. If you're not used to the bitterness, consider adding a sweetener. The matcha quality is good and presentation is nice, but there's a noticeable powdery texture while drinking, almost like undissolved milk powder 😅 Besides these two drinks, the shop offers many other beverage options—which might explain why there’s always a line even when it’s not too crowded… everyone’s taking their time choosing! 🥲 While not mind-blowing, it’s one of the better matcha specialty shops in Boston. P.S. The black sesame gelato is excellent—very rich and flavorful. It seems this shop really leans into strong, bold flavors across the board.
