Boston Review: 14 Restaurants Tried – What Else Should I Eat?
After two weeks in Boston, I ate at 14 spots: 1️⃣ My Happy Hunan Kitchen Hunan cuisine ✅ Will revisit Favorites: Old Changsha hot-braised platter & wide rice noodles with lotus root Perfect for rice lovers 2️⃣ Mountain House Sichuan cuisine ✅ Will revisit Loved the peppercorn fish and pork knuckle soup Kung Pao chicken was just okay (personal preference leans toward Guizhou style) 3️⃣ Phở Pasteur Vietnamese 📍 Convenient if nearby Pho and vermicelli bowls were tasty and generous The vermicelli was especially refreshing 4️⃣ Bar 'Cino Brookline Italian 📍 Convenient if nearby Pizza crust was the star – crispy, soft, and chewy Pasta and steak were average 5️⃣ Toro Spanish ✅ Will revisit Paella was excellent – the chorizo tasted like Sichuan spicy sausage Couldn’t stop eating the grilled corn (so good, so guilty) 6️⃣ Ganko Ittetsu Ramen Ramen 🚫 Won’t return Not bad, but nothing special 7️⃣ Santouka Hokkaido Ramen Ramen 📍 Convenient if nearby 8️⃣ Alive & Kicking Lobsters ✅ Will revisit Steamed lobster was fresh and well-prepared – a true test of quality 9️⃣ New Golden Gate Seafood Cantonese ✅ Will revisit – best of the trip Friend said their seafood is better than their regular dishes, and it’s true: Geoduck > duck tongue > coral shrimp > black chicken soup > lobster sticky rice But the lobster sticky rice was still fantastic, rivaling past favorites in NYC 1️⃣0️⃣ Moonshine 152 Asian-American fusion 🚫 Won’t return Service was sincere, but the flavors weren’t for me 1️⃣1️⃣ Saigon Fusion Vietnamese pho 📍 Convenient if nearby Broth was richer than Phở Pasteur, portions smaller Rib was good, but service was very slow that day 1️⃣2️⃣ Douzo Sushi Japanese 🚫 Won’t return Encountered the infamous “smile for white customers, cold to Asians” server – and she was Asian herself Miso black cod was decent, everything else was average 1️⃣3️⃣ Victoria Seafood Cantonese 📍 Convenient if nearby Ginger-scallion lobster was good, but paled in comparison to New Golden Gate 1️⃣4️⃣ Coconut Thai Cafe Thai ✅ Will revisit Ordered takeout – green curry, basil fried rice, and Pad Thai were all solid Skip the satay chicken skewers ➕ Bonus: Ice Cream 🍦 Far Out – visited three times, so good! 🚫 Amorino – their sorbet tasted watered down compared to what we had in France #BostonLife #BostonFood #BostonChineseFood #FoodReview #BostonRestaurantList
