Boston Spanish Restaurant | A great place to date!
🍷 Barcelona Wine Bar: Brookline’s Cozy Spanish Spot—Better Than the Salt Hype Suggests Finally visited Barcelona Wine Bar! The exterior looks small, but inside? Spacious, with warm, dim lighting—perfect for dates. Heard lots of complaints about saltiness, so I kept expectations low… but left impressed. It’s a keeper. 🥖 Standouts Complimentary Sourdough: 🥯 A great start. Warm, with a crackly crust and soft, airy crumb. Clearly made with care—way better than your average bread basket. Eggplant Caponata ($5.5) : 🍆 My favorite. Sweet peppers, onions, and basil simmered with eggplant—tastes almost Chinese (in the best way). Not too salty, even on its own, and amazing with that sourdough. A steal at $5.5. Basque Cheesecake ($9): 🧀 Rich, dense, and creamy—exactly how Basque cheesecake should be. The “twist”? Pickled strawberry and rhubarb chunks on the side (look like zhacai ,but trust me). Tart, tangy, and genius for cutting through the richness. Who knew fruit “pickles” and cheesecake would pair so well? 🍴 The Rest Beef Tartare ($14.5): 🥩 Fresh, with a pop of bell pepper—no fishiness. It’s salty, but pairing it with the sourdough balances it. Skip the served baguette (cold, slightly soggy from olive oil)—stick to the house bread. Truffled Bikini ($9): 🥓 Crispy grilled sandwich with ham, cheese, and truffle oil. Smells intensely of truffle, tastes more subtly savory—super buttery, super indulgent. Served with a creamy dip (calorie bomb, but worth it). Paella Mariscos (Half, $28): 🍤 Classic seafood paella, nothing mind-blowing. Seafood’s a touch dry, rice is firm (not the soft, sticky kind we love), but it’s fragrant with saffron. Salty? Moderate—manageable. Summer Street Sling ($12): 🍊 Grapefruit cocktail, light and easy-drinking—more like a fruity beverage than a strong drink. Perfect for low-key sipping. ✨ The Vibe Cozy, romantic, with a lively but not loud crowd. Decor’s chic, service is friendly, and the wine list is extensive (next time, we’re diving into that). Price: $30–$50 per person, depending on drinks and dishes. Fair for the quality and portion sizes. Barcelona Wine Bar lives up to the hype—ignore the salt complaints (or just pair with bread). Great for dates, small groups, or a casual night out. 📍 Barcelona Wine Bar 1700 Beacon St, Brookline, MA 02446 #BostonSpanishFood #DateNightFaves #CozyEats
