Peter and the Wolf is a children's musical story composed by Russian maestro Sergei Prokofiev in 1936. π» Originally commissioned by the Moscow Central Children's Theater, it was designed to introduce young audiences to the instruments of the symphony orchestra. Each character is represented by a specific instrument, helping children recognize their unique sounds: Peter (the hero) β String instruments (violins, cellos) π» The Bird β Flute πΆ The Duck β Oboe π¦ The Cat β Clarinet π The Grandfather β Bassoon π΄ The Wolf β French Horn πΊ The Hunters β Woodwinds & percussion (drums mimic gunshots) π« The story follows young Peter, who lives with his grandfather and encounters various animals before bravely outwitting a wolf. With courage and cleverness, Peter captures the wolf and leads it to the zooβending in a triumphant procession! π This concert is perfect for musical enlightenment πΆπ΅. The audience was full of families with children (some as young as a few months old!), and the atmosphere was warm and orderly.
