Peter and the Wolf is a children's musical story composed by Russian maestro Sergei Prokofiev in 1936. 🎻 Originally commissioned by the Moscow Central Children's Theater, it was designed to introduce young audiences to the instruments of the symphony orchestra. Each character is represented by a specific instrument, helping children recognize their unique sounds: Peter (the hero) → String instruments (violins, cellos) 🎻 The Bird → Flute 🎶 The Duck → Oboe 🦆 The Cat → Clarinet 🐈 The Grandfather → Bassoon 👴 The Wolf → French Horn 🐺 The Hunters → Woodwinds & percussion (drums mimic gunshots) 🔫 The story follows young Peter, who lives with his grandfather and encounters various animals before bravely outwitting a wolf. With courage and cleverness, Peter captures the wolf and leads it to the zoo—ending in a triumphant procession! 🏆 This concert is perfect for musical enlightenment 👶🎵. The audience was full of families with children (some as young as a few months old!), and the atmosphere was warm and orderly.
