Botticelli rests here in eternal slumber.
The Church of All Saints (Chiesa di San Salvatore in Ognissanti) near Florence's train station is a rare free attraction. According to Giorgio Vasari's "Lives of the Artists," Botticelli painted "Saint Augustine" for the church and was later buried here, next to his muse, 😀😀😀 Simonetta. Simonetta's beauty was renowned in Florence at the time, but unfortunately, she died young at the age of 22. It is said that both the Madonna and Venus in Botticelli's paintings were modeled after Simonetta.❤️❤️❤️ In addition to Botticelli's work, the Church of All Saints also houses a painting of "Saint Jerome" by Domenico Ghirlandaio, which faces the "Saint Augustine." The church closes at noon and reopens at 3 p.m. If you want to visit, make sure to time your visit accordingly.😀😀😻😻 Florence Church of All Saints Location: Borgo Ognissanti, 42, 50123 Firenze FI #WesternArtHistory #Renaissance #Botticelli #Florence #CulturalSiteShare
