Bratislava Travel
Day Trip Accomplished, Bratislava is more convenient and smooth than imagined when traveling from Vienna. Both train and bus are available. I took the OBB with a flexible one-day return ticket for 18 euros. When choosing transportation, pay attention to the terminal location. I personally recommend taking Slovak Lines, as it goes directly to Most SNP, which is close to churches and historical sites. In contrast, the stations for OBB and Regiojet require an additional bus ride to reach the city center. 😍😍😍 At first glance, Slovakia may seem rather unremarkable. The souvenir shops offer a mishmash of Czech, Austrian, and Hungarian specialties, and the national cuisine often bears the influence of other countries, which can be understood due to historical reasons. Additionally, I learned that in the Slovak language, "Brati" means brother and "Slava" means glory. Apart from the prices not quite having an "Eastern European" feel, there is a palpable sense of a "fallen empire" everywhere. However, if you set aside your expectations of it being a capital city, it is actually a nice place. 😀😀😀 For lunch, Mestiansky Pivovar 1752 is a century-old establishment here. This time, I tried the BBQ Spare Ribs and "Kapustnica," both of which were quite good. For afternoon tea, Kormuth Confectionery was a pleasant surprise. The interior decoration is museum-worthy, and the swan puff I had was delicious. The lavender lemonade I drank was just average and not highly recommended. They have a minimum spend of 13 euros, which is usually covered by one dessert plus a drink. 😁😁😁 For gelato, Luculus Ice Saloon was the best of the trip. Both the leaf and blueberry flavors were delightful, and they complemented each other well, balancing sweetness and tartness. Highly recommended. ❤️❤️❤️ The rest of the time was spent visiting the castle, Baroque gardens, St. Martin's Cathedral, seeing the manhole man and various monuments, and exploring a large shopping mall called Eurovea, where I discovered many brands I hadn't heard of before. This is also an advantage of a Sunday day trip. Since many shops in Vienna are closed on Sundays, you can still enjoy dining, shopping, and sightseeing in Bratislava. #Slovakia #EuropeanTravel #Bratislava #BratislavaTravel #OffTheBeatenPathEurope
