Brownsville Diary | Visiting My Husband’s "Mars Base"
Brownsville Diary | Visiting My Husband’s "Mars Base" & Enjoying Small Town Bliss 🌴 I’m finally back in Brownsville, the "small village" in Texas! This trip isn’t just for resting—I have two little goals: one is to visit my husband at his workplace, the SpaceX Starbase (aka the "Mars Base"), and the other is to take a walk on the nearby beach, while experiencing the slow life of this border town~ After staying for a few days, even though I didn’t have any amazing food, the sunshine, sea breeze, and simple daily life made me feel surprisingly healed~ 🏠 Slow Life in Texas’ "Village": Too Comfortable to Leave! Just back from the busy city, I was immediately wrapped in the "chill vibe" as soon as I stepped into Brownsville—no skyscrapers, just low bungalows lined up along the road, with cacti and vibrant bougainvillea in the yards🌺. Occasionally, I’d see neighbors’ dogs lying at the door sunbathing, and even driving didn’t require rushing; every trip was leisurely, and my mood relaxed along with it. My favorite part is the weather here! It’s neither too cold nor too hot, with clear blue skies every day. Push open the window in the morning and you’ll see the blue sky; in the evening, the sunset dyes the sky orange-pink. Sit in the yard and feel the breeze—it even makes breathing feel smoother~ There’s no exhaust smell like in the city, just a faint scent of grass and occasional sea breeze. This "surrounded by nature" feeling is really hard to find in big cities~ 🚀 Visiting My Husband’s "Mars Base": Turns Out Aerospace Work Is So Cool! I specifically followed my husband to SpaceX Starbase (what everyone calls the "Mars Base") this time. Even though I couldn’t enter the work area, just wandering around the perimeter was enough! From a distance, I could see the silver Starship standing on the launch pad, with engineering vehicles coming and going nearby, and staff in uniform busy at work—even the air felt full of "hardcore tech vibes"💥. My husband said that to meet the project deadline, they often work overtime late into the night, but every time they see the rocket being assembled bit by bit, they feel all the hard work is worth it~ Watching the sparkle in his eyes when he talks about his work, I suddenly thought: Being able to turn "interest" into "work," even working towards humanity’s "Mars dream," is really super cool! Although he spends less time with me usually, seeing him strive for something he loves makes me proud too~ 🌊 A Walk on the Border Beach: Sea Breeze & Relaxation Heal All Moods! There’s a niche beach near the base (not far from Boca Chica), so I drove over to wander around in the afternoon~ There weren’t many people on the beach; most were local residents with kids playing in the sand, walking dogs, and some people fishing by the sea🎣. I found a clean spot to sit, feeling the sea breeze gently on my face, watching the waves lap against the shore one after another, and occasionally seeing migratory birds passing by in the distance. In an instant, all my worries felt blown away~ But if there’s a small regret, it’s that there’s really not much good food here! Besides the BBQ restaurant I tried before (good bread but so-so meat), there are basically no specialty restaurants. If I want something spicy or savory, I have to cook by myself😂. But thinking about it, with comfortable weather, fresh air, and a beach where I can relax, the lack of good food doesn’t seem like a big problem—life is never perfect anyway~ 💭 A Little Reflection: Life Has Gains and Losses, Simplicity Is Best! Staying in Brownsville this time, watching my husband busy with the "Mars dream" and seeing the locals live a simple but contented life, I suddenly realized something: There are no perfect choices in life. Some people choose the prosperity of big cities and have to accept the pressure of a fast pace; some people choose to strive for a career they love and have to give up some time with family; just like me here, even though I miss out on the joy of good food, I’ve gained the healing of slow life~ In fact, what matters isn’t "having everything," but knowing what you want and then cherishing what you already have. With the sea breeze blowing, the blue sky above, the person I love by my side, and the occasional visit to the "Mars Base," this kind of simple life is already full of happiness~ #Brownsville#TexasLife#SpaceXStarbase#MarsBase#BeachRelaxation#LifeReflections
