Budapest – Sisi Princess Loved It Here, Not in Vienna ❤️
If you come to Budapest, you must not miss the Royal Palace of Gödöllő ! Compared to Austria, Sisi loved Hungary more, and the Hungarians also sincerely adored their Queen Elizabeth. The Royal Palace of Gödöllő, just a half-hour drive from #Budapest, showcases all of this. As a visitor, I felt that Budapest has more stories than Vienna. Perhaps Vienna looks too orderly and too uniform. 😍 Sisi diligently studied Hungarian language and culture to promote Hungary’s equal status with Austria. She reunited with her estranged husband to achieve this. After the Austro-Hungarian Compromise granted Hungary independent status, the couple was formally crowned as the King and Queen of Hungary. 👑 The Royal Palace of Gödöllő was the coronation gift from Hungary to the new king and queen. Queen Elizabeth clearly spent more time here, even giving birth to her youngest daughter in Hungary. The museum’s audio guide has 📌Chinese language options. Strolling through the rooms while following the guide, you can trace Sisi’s time in Hungary and also see the love the Hungarian people had for her. The exhibition also includes the history of previous residents like Queen Maria Theresa, as well as its later use as a military base and a nursing home. The final part shows the mourning for Elizabeth across Hungary after her assassination💔. No wonder it’s said, “When she died, no country mourned more than Hungary.” On a nice day, the park outside the palace🌻 is a great place for a walk or a picnic. 🎫 Transportation : Take train IR85 or 87 from Budapest to Gödöllő, then walk about a kilometer. Alternatively, go to Örs vezér tere station (there’s an IKEA there) and take suburban train H8. You’ll arrive right at the palace. If you’re not in a hurry, take the H8. It reminds me of Taiwan’s local trains, with gentle swaying and beautiful scenery along the way. I even met a group of middle school students heading home from school. Note that Gödöllő is outside Budapest, so you can’t use the Budapest transport pass. You’ll need a suburban train ticket. 🎫 Admission : 4600 Ft (about 90 RMB) on weekdays, 4900 Ft on weekends. Students get a 50% discount. The audio guide rental is around 20 RMB. ⏰ Opening Hours : Monday to Sunday, 10:00-18:00. #BudapestTravel #SoloTravel #MustVisitInBudapest #OffTheBeatenPath #AustroHungarianEmpire #HungaryTravel #HistoricalArchitecture
