Budapest đđș: A Kid-Operated Railway đ Thatâs Super Healing!
Go and support these adorable kids! If youâre in Budapest and wondering what to do, I stumbled upon this incredibly heartwarming activity by accident. The guide is ready, so hurry up and check it out! This is the longest remaining kid-operated railway in the world. Except for the driver, who is an adult, everything from directing, ticket selling, checking tickets, to signaling is all done by these kids. A single ride costs only 1000 HUF (about $20), and they only accept cash đ°. The entire route is about 11 kilometers, and the full journey takes around 45 minutes. You can get off at any stop along the way, and you can also get on at any station. I recommend getting on at the first station đ HĂŒvösvölgy. Just search for HĂŒvösvölgy childrenâs railway on the map. After you get off, youâll see what looks like a bus station. Spot the wooden staircase nearby and head up. Follow the stairs up and go straight, and youâll see the station. Reasons to start at the first station: 1ïžâŁ Thereâs a place to buy souvenirs. 2ïžâŁ Thereâs also a small museum you can visit. Tips: The train đ passes through Budapestâs highest mountain in the middle. 1ïžâŁ You can get off at VirĂĄgvölgy, do a bit of hiking, and reach a lookout point with a panoramic view of Budapest. 2ïžâŁ You can also get off at Normafa, which is near a large park. Finally, prepare a 200 HUF coin đȘ. You can get a commemorative coin at the first or last station. I didnât have a coin today, so I regretfully missed out. (They canât exchange coins for you there.) If the kids arenât busy, you can take a photo with them, and theyâll salute whenever the train stops. Most of the journey is through the forest đł, and the entire ride is quiet and comfortable. The kidsâ smiles are so pure. If youâre unsure what to do, come support them. One ride can heal your whole day. #BudapestTravel #BudapestTrip #BudapestTravelTips #BudapestChildrensRailway #TravelToHungary #HungaryTravel
