Budapest🔖 Capital: Szabó Ervin Library, Music Department
This is a library transformed from a gorgeous old palace, renowned for its elaborate Baroque style, so much so that the library card counter even offers a special tourist ticket for sightseeing. 🏰✨ But if you just snap some photos and move on, you’re experiencing less than 1% of what it offers!!! 😱 As a musician, I highly recommend the 8th-floor music department. 🎶 It houses the entire set of The New Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians, the latest top global music magazines, regional music culture magazines including those from unfamiliar African regions (mostly in Hungarian but some in English), Liszt’s manuscripts, and various original sheet music (keep in mind these are extremely valuable and some are even unavailable for purchase). 📚🎼 There’s also an audio-visual room with vinyl records, cassette tapes, and CDs, all with corresponding playback equipment. Spending a whole day here is pure bliss. 😊🎧 With your residence “little pink card,” 400 Forints gets you access for a whole year! ✔️ (Remember, 100 years ago⏪, knowledge and music were largely inaccessible to the general public. Now, in the spirit of the internet’s selfless sharing, I urge you all to take advantage of this opportunity.) 💖 Sometimes I really hate the brokenness and inconvenience of Europe, but the level of civilization in a region cannot be measured solely by infrastructure, technology, and military. 🤔 #WellRead #MusicDaily #LibraryLearning
