🍰 Cake & Joe in Philly Has Some of the Best Cakes in the U.S.

Went back to Philly recently to pick up some documents and had this mind-blowing cake experience. As a lifelong dessert enthusiast who’s tried famous and obscure sweets from all over, Cake & Joe honestly ranks in my top three ever (keeping it humble by saying “in the U.S.” for now 😉). This cozy spot serves light meals, cakes, bubble tea, croissants, and more — but I’ve only tried their cakes. They’re so good that I’d plan a trip just for their passionfruit mousse (the yellow spherical cake with a Saturn-like ring 🪐). Whether flying from Indonesia or Singapore to Philly, that passionfruit mousse is worth 20+ hours in the air. The flavor is lightly sweet, never cloying, and pairs beautifully with a hot cup of tea 🍵. The fruity notes feel like puppy love — if you bring someone you like here, a confession afterward feels almost guaranteed 💖. Perfect for a snowy afternoon date: cake here, then a stroll to a gold-dusted omakase. Equally wonderful for a happy catch-up with friends 👭. The shop isn’t particularly photogenic or fancy — just a simple little place. But the taste is so memorable that even looking at photos now brings back that heart-melting first bite.
