When you order to eat in the restaurant, the order is normally perfect. However, this is at least the fourth time I have ordered the quinoa salad to go, WITH DRESSING ON THIS SIDE. This is not a difficult concept. I have many friends that will no go to the restaurant because of the owner's attitude, and they feel unwelcome. I continue to go because I enjoy the food. However, I am sick of paying for a salad that HAS THE DRESSING ON IT, when I have specifically asked for it on the side. I opened up the salad for dinner tonight (purchased 2 days ago), WITH THE DRESSING ON THE SIDE, only to find the dressing was all over the salad, and it was not eatable. I was assured by the server that the dressing was on the side; as I asked her TWICE (my mother was a witness and suggested I check). I now realize this is my fault for believing the servers that the dressing is on the side, when clearly, at this point, they haven't bothered to check. This is not an inexpensive lunch/dinner. Between the attitude of the owner and her very unwelcoming demeanor, and the mistakes made, I think I will follow my friends, spread the word, and not go to the restaurant any time soon. It's a shame; the servers have a great attitude, but don't check their out going orders and the attitude served up by the owner is nothing less than unwelcoming; she feels that she is doing us a service, when in fact, if the word continues to spread, she will not be doing any service, as people will continue to stop going. Coming to the restaurant is a compliment; however, as we all know, the bad word spreads, and it all down hill. It's really a shame, but many of us are tired of the bad attitude and on take out orders, sub-level service. I am sure I can find another quinoa salad somewhere that will be equivalent in product and probably cheaper in the long run. I am a business owner myself, and would never provide this type of service, and if any of my employees did, they would be fired on the spot. This seems to be an automatic thumbs up for the post. I AM A COMPLETE AND TOTAL THUMBS DOWN...

Visited Philly for the first time last week and was staying in chestnut hill so thought to go here. In a lovely neighborhood and the surrounding area is great. After putting my name down for the wait (didn’t make a res) and waiting for about 30 minutes, was sat with my friend who arrived during the wait time.

When the server came to take our orders I asked for a latte with oat milk, a pretty standard order in 2024 for a bfast spot and was told in a snappy tone they “only do regular coffee”, so heads up.

Then once she came back with our regular coffees, we both wanted to order pastries to go with them. Then we were unnecessarily told, “oh normally we won’t seat you in the dining room if you just are ordering pastries.” For some weird reason our server seemed exasperated and maybe felt like because we weren’t ordering a full bfast spread we wouldn’t tip or something? She honestly didn’t deserve one anyway, but seemed super weird to tell paying guests who’ve already been sat that in future they can’t come back and sit in the dining room to have bfast pastries and [regular] coffee [of course].

Anyway, overall subpar experience....

Worst service I've ever experienced.

This place always seems busy so I decided to try it out. In a party of 2, we went when they opened for the day so the restaurant was about half full when we had gotten there. It took about 15 minutes for somebody to take our order. Other parties who arrived after us (table next to us were there maybe 10 minutes after) had their orders taken first, not too big of a deal. Service nosedived after that. We started noticing many other tables (many of larger parties than our 2) started getting their food before we did although they arrived much later than we did. Then, they started paying and leaving. Meanwhile, we hadn't gotten our food. 40 minutes after ordering, our food finally arrived, as the restaurant had already gone through at least one rotation of the rest of their tables. Food was good, but not worth the wait. I did not complain to the waitress or management about the experience, but the waitress seemed to have an attitude when I had my card ready to pay before the check came, since I had been there for almost an hour and a half.

2.5/10, would go again if desperate and felt the need to...

Tip: This place does not take reservation, only walk-in waitlist. We waited about an hour to get a table of four people for our Sunday brunch. So be aware of a long waiting time or get there early. The dining area is much smaller than what we expected. People were really nice. Food portion was definitely worth the price! Their Ribeye steak & egg was our fav dish among the four dishes we ordered (breakfast plate, breakfast burrito, French toast). Another thing I really liked from here was their scramble eggs w/ cheese! Burrito was huge but the overall flavor of it was okay. French toast was soft but the portions of cream & berries were very small (mostly just bread & maple syrup). The downside about here were limited options of sweet brunch dishes (only French toast & Belgium waffle) and they only have plain/black coffee option.

Please do not tell your friends about Cake, let’s keep this review to just us. Cake is a perfect 5/5! Gorgeous setting, delightful staff and the food is fresh and delicious. I went for a late breakfast and was on tight schedule and needed to be in and out within hour. I was fortunate that they were not busy and was seated right away. I mentioned to the waitress about timing and she could not have been more attentive! It was a hard decision but the wrap won out. The eggs were light and fluffy, the guac was divine… creamy and flavorful, the salad fresh and the pico sauce was great. By the time I was finished eating, my bill was presented and I made a quick exit. Looking forward to my next visit! A true culinary and baking star in Chestnut Hill.

This review is for their cakes only. I ordered a cake for my parents’ joint 80th birthday party. They both love lemon, so I got the lemon cake with lemon curd filling and vanilla buttercream icing. I also decorated it myself with jelly candy lemon slices, and it looked gorgeous. The 10inch cake served 22 people with a few slices left to send home with the birthday couple. Cake was dense and lemony, not too sweet, and everyone raved about the lemon curd filling and buttercream icing. Every single person finished their slice of cake, and we got lots of compliments. Much less expensive than comparable cakes at local bakeries. I would get this cake again in a heartbeat!
