Calgary π¨π¦ Weekend Hike & Picnic ποΈ
Spent a fantastic weekend hiking and picnicking with my besties! ππ Didn't feel like trekking all the way to the mountains, so we found a gem right within the city limits ποΈπ³. πEdworthy Park π ΏοΈ Parking There are two parking lotsβNorth and South. North Lot: Right by the main road, lots of parking spots, public restrooms, a cafΓ©, and close to the river and bridge. After crossing the bridge, you'll find picnic areas and two playgrounds. It gets pretty crowded here π¨βπ©βπ§βπ¦π . South Lot: You'll need to take a small road to get there. It's quieter and less crowded. Once parked, a short walk leads you to the picnic area with lusher grass and a small playground. The public restrooms are under renovation, so only portable toilets are available πΎ. If you're planning to hit the trails or bike paths, this lot is closer π΄ββοΈπ£οΈ. β°οΈ Hiking Trails There are several trails here, including the Christmas Tree Trail and Bow River Pathway. Today, we opted for the Douglas Fir Trail π²πΆββοΈ. Unfortunately, we found out a third of the way in that the rest was closed for maintenance π’. βΊοΈ Picnic Areas There are 9 designated picnic sites, each spaced far apart for privacy. Perfect for booking for gatherings or parties ππ₯³. You can also bring your beach chairs and head straight to the riverbank to soak up the sun and splash around ππ¦. We ended up spending half the day there! #CalgaryLife #LifeInCanada #CalgaryWeekend πποΈ
