Calgary ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆ Weekend Hike & Picnic ๐Ÿ–๏ธ

Spent a fantastic weekend hiking and picnicking with my besties! ๐Ÿ‘ญ๐Ÿ˜ Didn't feel like trekking all the way to the mountains, so we found a gem right within the city limits ๐Ÿ™๏ธ๐ŸŒณ. ๐Ÿ“Edworthy Park ๐Ÿ…ฟ๏ธ Parking There are two parking lotsโ€”North and South. North Lot: Right by the main road, lots of parking spots, public restrooms, a cafรฉ, and close to the river and bridge. After crossing the bridge, you'll find picnic areas and two playgrounds. It gets pretty crowded here ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ‘งโ€๐Ÿ‘ฆ๐Ÿ˜…. South Lot: You'll need to take a small road to get there. It's quieter and less crowded. Once parked, a short walk leads you to the picnic area with lusher grass and a small playground. The public restrooms are under renovation, so only portable toilets are available ๐Ÿšพ. If you're planning to hit the trails or bike paths, this lot is closer ๐Ÿšดโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ›ฃ๏ธ. โ›ฐ๏ธ Hiking Trails There are several trails here, including the Christmas Tree Trail and Bow River Pathway. Today, we opted for the Douglas Fir Trail ๐ŸŒฒ๐Ÿšถโ€โ™€๏ธ. Unfortunately, we found out a third of the way in that the rest was closed for maintenance ๐Ÿ˜ข. โ›บ๏ธ Picnic Areas There are 9 designated picnic sites, each spaced far apart for privacy. Perfect for booking for gatherings or parties ๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿฅณ. You can also bring your beach chairs and head straight to the riverbank to soak up the sun and splash around ๐ŸŒž๐Ÿ’ฆ. We ended up spending half the day there! #CalgaryLife #LifeInCanada #CalgaryWeekend ๐Ÿ๐Ÿž๏ธ
