Calgary Travel
🇨🇦Canada | The days I "had to" spend exploring Calgary I came to Calgary to apply for a US visa, and had to work while exploring during the processing period—never thought I’d end up staying in Canada for a full 19 days! 😮 Here’s a roundup of my Calgary itinerary. 🏨 Accommodation Hi Calgary City Centre A hostel that’s super quiet, only $40 a night! 🤑 It’s right in the city center, close to the US Embassy and popular city hotspots. All the staff there are amazingly nice—they helped me so much! 🥰 Next door is Good Earth, a well-known local chain café, which became my daytime workspace. ☕️ 🏙️ Attractions Calgary Tower Highly recommend going up—you can learn about the city’s history. I went in the evening, and Calgary at sunset was absolutely stunning! 🌇 Calgary Zoo The park is huge—my knees hurt from walking so much! 🦵 It features lots of animals common to the Rockies, like elk and yaks, plus more unique ones like snow leopards, penguins, and polar bears! 🐧🐻❄️ At night, I checked out the winter-only Zoolights show—there were free carousels and axe-throwing games to try! 🎠 During Christmas, you can even take free photos with Santa! 🎅 Downtown City Walk Big Head Sculptures → Olympic Plaza → Stephen Avenue → Calgary Public Library → Prince’s Island Park → Peace Bridge 🌉 Royal Tyrrell Museum If you explore it properly, it’ll take a whole day! 🕒 The museum details Earth’s origins and paleontology, with complete exhibits from the Precambrian to modern times, plus tons of precious fossils. The highlight is the Gorgosaurus—first discovered in Alberta! 🦖 🛍️ Shopping CF Chinook Centre Probably Calgary’s biggest mall, with around 300 stores—you could shop here for hours! 🛍️ The CORE This mall is a bit confusing to navigate—so easy to get lost! 😵 But it has some luxury stores (though small). The biggest highlight? The tiny botanical garden in the 4th-floor food court! 🌿 CrossIron Mills An outlet mall! Right now, non-Calgary residents get extra discounts at select stores—score! 💰 The design is cool too, with themed zones like fossils and wildlife, showing off Alberta’s 特色. 🦕 🎵 Culture Arts Commons - “A Drag Queen Christmas” A global tour drag queen show—I was completely blown away! 💃 The queens were so elegant and had amazing stage presence! 👑 Studio Bell An interactive music museum! 🎶 I got to record in a studio, play drums, electric guitar, and mixers—so fun! 🥁 The 5th floor has a Beatles exhibit marking their 60th anniversary in Canada—don’t miss it! 🎸 #CalgaryTravel ✈️
