California Coastal Hike | Point Vicente Lighthouse 🏞️💡
People often instinctively justify their choices—so when I moved here, I started looking for reasons to love LA. When I first arrived in Los Angeles, everyone said it was a place where you can “go from mountains to the sea”—meaning you can drive to either in no time. Some reasons I used to praise LA now feel a bit stretched, but this “mountains-to-sea” perk is genuinely true! Point Vicente is located in Rancho Palos Verdes, south of Los Angeles. During hot summers, the coast here is much cooler than the city—making it an ideal spot for hiking or a relaxed stroll. 🚶♀️🌊 You can drive and park at Hike Palos Verdes Seaside—there’s a small free parking lot. It’s rarely crowded. Follow the Golden Cove Trail, which runs right along the ocean. The path is easy—almost no elevation gain—and you can turn back anytime. On one side, you’ll see the vast Pacific Ocean 🌊; on the other, you’ll pass private homes, a museum, and the iconic lighthouse. The museum showcases local history (I didn’t go in, but from outside, it seemed to feature Native American exhibits). The lighthouse is classic American—similar to ones I’ve seen in other cities. It’s still active and surrounded by government property, so you can’t get too close, but it’s beautiful from a distance. If you prefer not to walk far, you can also drive directly to the larger parking lot near the museum and lighthouse. Further along, you’ll pass resort areas with dining and lodging options. Walking by, you might see pools, people barbecuing, and outdoor dining—all with great views! 🍖👀 The trail ends at a small beach—only about 100 meters long—but still surprisingly popular! There are even vendors selling snacks and souvenirs nearby. The Western love for beaches is something we Chinese sometimes find hard to understand, but the vibe is undeniably lively! 🏖️🎉 #Hiking #TrailLife #PathToTheSea #LosAngeles #ExploreCalifornia #CoastalHike #ScenicViews #Lighthouse #PacificCoast #EasyHike #FamilyFriendly #SoCalNature #OutdoorAdventure #WalkTheCoast #TravelDiary
