Camphor is a Cozy Bistro Brimming with Sunshine & Lavender ☀️
Located in DTLA’s Arts District, this Michelin-starred modern French bistro is led by Executive Chefs Max Boonthanakit and Lijo George, who skillfully blend classic French techniques with subtle Indian influences. Camphor brings it back to the essentials with an earthy and inviting menu — featuring shareable small plates, hearty mains, picturesque desserts, classic cocktails with a French twist, and thoughtful wine pairings. 🍷✨ Ambience: Feels like a sunny Provençal countryside retreat — think lavender table flowers, natural light, and a "back to nature" vibe. The staff dresses in relaxed, rustic-chic white cotton dresses, elegant yet effortlessly cool. 🌿👒 Food: Overall, the appetizers leaned spicy (they love using their signature chili sauce — not quite my taste), meats were beautifully tender, and desserts leaned tart. Visually stunning, but not super memorable flavor-wise. Maybe my expectations were too high — it didn’t fully wow me. Cocktails were a bit too sweet for my liking 😅, but the braised spinach was a delightful surprise! 🥬💚 Service: True Michelin-level — attentive yet relaxed, matching the restaurant’s comfortable vibe without being overly formal. Plus, they complimented my cat — instant bonus points for great taste! 😽❤️ Great for catching up with friends over drinks and small plates. Not a must-visit just for the Michelin star, but it’s definitely going on my list of cozy, regular spots — especially given the reasonable prices! 💫 #RestaurantRecommendations #VibeDining #HiddenGemEats #FrenchCuisine #Plog #TravelDiaries
