Canberra Pizza | Sliceria
đIn my last post, I was just saying that all the recent restaurant visits were to Korean eateriesâand lo and behold, on Monday, a new pizza joint opened next to Terra on Marcus Clark St. Itâs been blowing up online these days; you can see it everywhere. The ownerâs headshot looked familiar, and upon closer inspection, it turned out to be Chef Hemm, the "pride of Canberra" and one of the worldâs top 100 pizza chefs. Back when he won the award, I went to Pizza Artigiana to try the special top 100 pizza he designed to celebrate . From the picture, you can tell the crust was well-risen, but it was just pure cheese with salted meat, no acidity to balance it outâit was salty and greasy, hard to evaluate. Now heâs opened his own place, and since itâs called Sliceria, itâs obviously a pizzeria selling slices, specializing in Roman-style square pizza and also serving schiacciata. This sparked a glimmer of hope in me: even if itâs bad, I wonât have to eat much. For the first three days of opening, the first 150 people got a free Margherita sliceâwhat a generous move, and I managed to get one. It was pretty good: crispy from baking, though the basil was added at the end and didnât really blend in, but overall, it was quite fragrant, like a savory baked cheese slice. I also ordered "Meat me in Rome," a meat loverâs pizza with a punny name đ. It had ham, salami, and porchetta, super thick. The base was BBQ-flavored, not too salty, but the layers of meat were inevitably heavy, so youâll need an iced Americano to cut the richness.â¤ď¸â¤ď¸â¤ď¸ Summary: A new fast-food option for lunch. If youâre not afraid of getting a carb coma in the afternoon, grab a sliceâitâs filling.đđđ #lunchideas #CanberraFoodie #DeliciousPizza #CheeseIsPower #FoodDiary #CanberraFood #AustralianPizza #Altaglio
