CAPC - Bordeaux's Must-Visit Contemporary Art Museum🎨🏛️
Victor Hugo once said Bordeaux was *"a magical fusion of Versailles and Antwerp"*—and he wasn’t wrong! ✨🇫🇷🏰⚡️🌆📜 Built in 1824 as an agricultural warehouse, CAPC transformed into Bordeaux’s Contemporary Visual Arts Center in 1983. Fun fact: In the 12th century, Bordeaux was *British territory*! It only became French after the 1453 Battle of Castillon. 🏴🇫🇷⚔️🕰️🏗️ The warehouse originally stored *peanuts, cocoa, and vanilla*—hence its sky-high ceilings and genius ventilation. 🌾🍫🥜🌀🏭 Every year, CAPC invites a star artist to create a site-specific installation in its grand central nave. Past exhibitors include *Leonor Antunes (2015), Rosa Barba, and Naufus Ramírez-Figueroa*—*heavyweights* of the art world! 🎭🖌️👩🎨🌟📽️🔄 Beyond art, the museum hosts architecture exhibitions too—like works by *Wang Shu* and *Xu Tiantian*. During my visit, I caught Xu’s stunning *"Stone Quarries of Lishui"* project. 🏗️📐🇨🇳⛰️🖼️👀 Even if you *skip the exhibits*, the building itself is architectural eye candy . A *must-see* in Bordeaux! 🤩🏛️💫📸🚶♀️❤️ #Architecture #DesignInspo #Bordeaux #ArtLover #Exhibition #FrenchCulture #MuseumCrush
