CDMX Milestone: An Evening at Pujol 🌮🍷✨

🍽️ The highlight of this week was undoubtedly Pujol! Founded by celebrated Mexican chef Enrique Olvera, this two-Michelin-star restaurant consistently ranks among the world’s best. We made our reservation two to three months in advance—finally, our turn to experience the magic. We opted for the tasting menu, which offered different choices for several courses. Since neither of us has dietary restrictions, we each picked one option and shared—best of both worlds! Julien also went for the drink pairing—six beverages including beer, wine, and tequila-based drinks. 🥂 📸 1–2|The atmosphere was calm and warm, with wood-toned interiors and comfortable spacing—no need to overdress to feel at home. 3|The “Our snacks” platter featured their famous charcoal-grilled baby corn, coated in a rich, spicy chili paste—absolutely aromatic! 4|First course: I had abalone ceviche, while Julien chose heirloom tomato and parota salad—both fresh and layered. Second course: wild mussel birria (a traditional spicy stew) vs. roasted squash tart—surprisingly tender and flavorful. 5|For the main, we chose Wagyu and zaradeado-style grilled fish. The fish was especially delightful—lighter and more refreshing than the beef. 6|The savory finale was Pujol’s signature Mole Madre: an outer ring of mole aged 3,758 days, and a fresher mole inside. I preferred the younger version—smoother and less intense. 7|Dessert stage was a thrill—each treat kept us eagerly anticipating the next. 8|The hidden gem: churros! A friend insisted we order them off-menu—warm, crispy, not too sweet, with a hint of salt. Honestly, the best churros I’ve ever had! Why aren’t these on the main menu? 🥹 🏃♀️ Running update: 46.7 km this week (maybe a bit much—took a rest day and rewarded myself with a massage 💆♀️) 🍽️ Reward: Pujol’s full tasting menu + 3 desserts + secret churros 💭 Takeaway: A fantastic experience overall. I love how Pujol celebrates local ingredients (some flavors felt familiar from street food stalls)—confident, not relying on fancy plating. Biggest surprise? Bumping into a friend from my NYC banking internship days inside the restaurant! #MexicoCity #CDMX #Pujol #FineDining #TastingMenu #MexicanCuisine #EnriqueOlvera #FoodTravel #HiddenGems #MichelinDining #GlobalCuisine #FoodieExperience #TravelEats
