Celebrating Our First Wedding Anniversary in Cincinnati 💑🎉
My husband and I spent a long time deciding how to celebrate our first anniversary. Having explored most nearby spots and not wanting to fly far, we finally chose Cincinnati as our destination. Initially, we just planned to see the city and soak up its vibe, but it turned out to be full of delightful surprises. We stayed just for the weekend — had a rough plan but mostly wandered around freely. We loved stumbling upon vibrant murals covering entire walls just a block apart, and were captivated by the city's unique and grand architecture. On Friday night, we caught a free Halloween horror movie screening in Washington Park (running till midnight!). The next day, we returned to enjoy some Bluegrass music at the Fall Festival 🎃🎶. Saturday morning, we visited Findlay Market 🛒. The indoor butchers offered surprisingly fair prices, while the outdoor stalls overflowed with fresh produce and local treats. Afterwards, we walked to the Cincinnati Art Museum (fair warning — some streets felt a bit sketchy, so maybe not ideal for solo walks). From the hilltop museum grounds, we admired the cityscape — Cincinnati, nestled between hills and the river, still glowing with well‑tended autumn blooms 🍂🌆. The museum is free to the public, and most works highlight Cincinnati’s cultural history — from women fighting for education and a place in the arts, to early pottery and wood‑carving traditions. The whole space felt thoughtfully curated, with staff deeply dedicated to preserving the city’s artistic legacy 🖼️❤️. In the evening, we strolled to the bridge linking Ohio and Kentucky. Watching the city lights sparkle below, and costumed runners racing along the river, we felt Cincinnati’s warm, community‑spirited heartbeat 🌉🏃♂️✨. Of course, our anniversary wasn’t complete without great food! Two restaurants stood out: 🍝 Pepp & Dolores (Italian) — Honestly, the best Italian food I’ve had in the U.S.! We devoured sourdough with cheese, meatballs, and two pasta dishes (skip the meatballs if you eat light). The service was professional and attentive, every dish perfectly seasoned — a solid 5‑star pick! 🍜 Sago (Malaysian) — Tried based on a friend’s recommendation. The roasted duck noodles and curry chicken noodles did not disappoint! Street parking was easy, and it’s definitely worth a visit 🥢👍. We didn’t have time for the zoo or botanical garden — saving those for next time. Quietly, I added Cincinnati to my “visit again” list and even peeked at local real estate (just daydreaming, of course 😉). If you ever pass through Cincinnati (and you likely will), take a moment to experience the unique charm of this Midwestern gem. #Cincinnati #Cincy #CincinnatiEats #MidwestUSA #AnniversaryTrip #CityWandering 🇺🇸💖
