Charlotte Brewery
I first heard about this place from Bill at Triple C, and later, several users on Xiaohongshu also recommended their sour beers to me—seems like it’s truly worth a visit 😏 Last Saturday, I met up with friends at Uptown for those addictive American burgers we’d been craving again, then headed over to Hopfly. I came specifically for their sour beer, and as soon as I saw “blueberry,” I blindly ordered the Pastry Sour: Blueberry Cheesecake Blender. 🍇 Appearance & Aroma The beer pours a rich grape-purple color—visually inviting. The aroma is layered and distinct: first, a blueberry-led berry scent, intense and rounded (it’s rare for blueberry notes to feel this full in a beer’s aroma), followed by a creamy, dessert-like cheesecake sweetness that’s warm and enticing. 👅 Flavor & Mouthfeel The body is remarkably thick—almost “chewy” in texture. It’s nothing like the watery feel of typical fruit sours; though substantial, it avoids being sludge-like, instead offering a solid, content-rich presence. The flavor is densely packed. The blueberry doesn’t come off as mere fruit but a scoop of real blueberry cheesecake—sweet, rich, and satisfying. Each sip feels like dessert, demanding slow savoring rather than quick gulps. The sweet-tart balance is well-executed, though the finish is slightly astringent with a relatively short aftertaste. 💡 Final Thoughts This is far from a light “easy-drinker”—it’s a substantial, dessert-like brew that demands attention. 83/100—a fun and memorable experience! I’d planned to try more, but we arrived quite late. After finishing this beer, it was already dark, so we had to head out. Next time, I’ll definitely come earlier to explore more of their offerings. #Beer #CraftBeer #BeerTastingNotes #CharlotteFoodReview #CharlotteCraftBeer #CharlotteBrewery #CharlotteDiscovery #CharlotteLifeDiary #Hopfly
