🍣 Charlotte Japanese Food Disappointment | Yama Izakaya

Today visited Farm in Charlotte, NC 🌿 — super picturesque setting! There’s a shop called Urbane that’s fun to browse, plus they offered free red and white wine tasting 🍷… totally awesome 😄! Then headed to Yama Izakaya — make a reservation if you can! Most restaurants here are packed; we waited about 30–35 mins 🕒. The prices were reasonable 🧾, but wow — no comparison is truly a mercy 😅. This place actually made me miss O-Ku from the other day. Really goes to show: you don’t have to be exceptional when your competition is… like this. 🍖 Galbi (Short Rib) Just average, slathered in teriyaki sauce — and probably extra poured on before serving. Way too sweet 🍯. (Off-topic: This was actually the best dish of the meal 😂) 🥗 Seaweed Salad & Miso Soup Nothing special. The salad had a touch of sesame oil — interesting twist, but not impressive. 🐮 Gyuniku (Beef Something…) The beef wasn’t overcooked — it was just old 🐄💔! So tough and dry, each bite felt like chewing paper — the kind you’d find in “cardboard beef” back home 😖. And yes… also sweet. 🍛 Curry Pork Cutlet Not good. Like, really not good. The moment it arrived, I had my doubts. One bite confirmed: yes, it’s exactly as bad as it looks 👎. Portion was big — two huge pieces — but that didn’t help. 🍣 Sushi Basic buffet-tier quality 🍱. Most local spots do better. Honestly, you’re better off going to Mr. Tokyo — fresher, tastier, and all-you-can-eat! 🍶 Mio Sparkling Sake A sweet little drink I’d actually recommend! Not my all-time favorite, but it’s up there ❤️.
