Charlottetown

The most hospitable hotel I've ever stayed at At the beginning of May, during the off-season, I visited Prince Edward Island for lobster and snow crab. I highly recommend staying at Prince Inn, a retro-style bed and breakfast in Charlottetown. 📷 The 18th-century interior is super photogenic. The building itself is the only remaining 18th-century Victorian brick house on the street, and the interior decoration is carefully arranged in a corresponding style. 🛀 The facilities in the room are also extremely clean. Since it's run by Chinese people, all the facilities are very much in line with our usual living habits. For example, there's a hot water dispenser in the breakfast restaurant on the first floor! (If you've stayed in other Canadian hotels at the same price point, you'll know that there's either a coffee machine or a badly worn-out kettle 🥲) The main thing is that it's operated by Chinese people, so there's no problem communicating in Mandarin when you need service or help. During my stay, the staff even helped me book local small tours and taxis (❗️There's no Uber service on the island. It's recommended to rent a car yourself/ask the staff to call a taxi in advance/join a local small tour). Booking directly by phone during the off-season costs less than 150 CAD per night. Sister Cindy, who hosted me, was really warm. Every morning at breakfast, she would come over and ask if I wanted a specially delicious fried egg. On the two days when I went out late, I chatted with her about the local customs and culture of the island. 🖊️ Attached is a list of Charlottetown restaurants recommended by Sister Cindy: 1️⃣ If you want to eat lobster, you can go to Lobster Wharf at the end of Prince Street by the sea. The taste is okay but the price is outrageous. At the beginning of May, it was sold at market price, over 50 CAD per pound (I forgot to ask when ordering and was shocked when I got the receipt 😧). If you buy it at the fish market yourself, it's 10 CAD per pound. It's recommended that if you don't mind the trouble, buy the lobster yourself and take it to Island Canteen for processing, with a processing fee of 15 CAD per pound; or ask if the hotel can handle it (Cindy is really nice and said she would try her best to fulfill any wishes I had. On my last day, I bought local snow crab and asked Cindy to steam it for me, which satisfied my craving. Of course, I gave a little tip). 2️⃣ For oysters, you can go to Sea Rocket. They are 3.5 CAD each, which is a bit expensive, but really fresh and sweet. The braised scallops with pork belly are delicious, and all the other random dishes I ordered were good. 3️⃣ Noodle House behind Prince Inn. If you're tired of Western food, you can change your taste to Cantonese cuisine. I heard their fried rice noodles are recommended. However, when we went there, they were closed for the May Day holiday. 4️⃣ Island Canteen on Summer Street. I ordered (sizzling beef) and (sweet and sour pork), which were good. 5️⃣ Hunters’ Club is similar to a nightclub. After 9 pm, chicken wings are half-price, but you can't take them away directly. It's mainly a place to drink and have a quick bite. The burgers and chicken wings are on the salty side, but the advantage is that it's open until 2 am all year round. 6️⃣ Sim’s Steakhouse has good steaks. #Charlottetown #PrinceEdwardIsland #PEI #BnB #Hotel #TopHotel #HotelRecommendation
