Chile|I Can’t Believe I Saw “Mount Fuji” in South America 🗻

After days of trekking in Torres del Paine, we chose to unwind in Puerto Varas, a lesser-known lakeside town in central Chile. Known as a local vacation hotspot, Puerto Varas boasts Volcán Osorno—a volcano resembling Mount Fuji—along with lakes, ranches, forests, and waterfalls 🌋🌳 We flew from Puerto Natales (southern Chile) to Puerto Montt, then booked a transfer with Andrés Tour to Puerto Varas 🚌 After four relaxing days, we flew to Santiago. This charming town is perfect for slowing down and soaking in nature. 🌟 How to Explore Puerto Varas? The town center is small and can be explored in half a day. Strolling or biking along the lake with views of the volcano is pure bliss! For a 1-2 day itinerary, add these spots: 📍 Monte Calvario: A small hilltop offering panoramic views of the volcano and lake. Worth the short hike if time allows. 📍 Frutillar Music Town: Take a minibus from downtown (30 mins one way). This lakeside gem is ideal for volcano and lake views, with a scenic waterfront path linking beaches and attractions. 📍 Vicente Perez Rosales National Park: Another minibus ride from town. Highlights include waterfalls and mountain-river landscapes. Note: The waterfalls themselves are modest, but the volcanic backdrop shines on sunny days ☀️ 📍 Pablo Fierro Museum: A whimsical lakeside cabin designed by artist Pablo Fierro, blending Chilote culture with eclectic art. Inside, discover quirky antiques and vibrant artworks 🏡 🌟 Pro Tips 👉 Transport: Minibuses to Frutillar and the national park depart from multiple stops. We boarded near Supermercado O’Higgins and Banco de Chile. Ask your accommodation for exact pickup points. 👉 AMA Coffee & Tea Market: Their cakes are divine, and the coffee is top-notch. We visited twice! 👉 Accommodation: Hotels here are pricey—opt for cozy Airbnb stays instead. We stayed in a rustic cabin hosted by a sweet elderly couple. 👉 Sunset Magic: Don’t miss the volcano bathed in golden light—it’s pure romance! #ChileTravel #SouthAmerica #PuertoVaras #OffTheBeatenPath #BackpackingChile #SlowTravel #HiddenGems #Wanderlust #DigitalNomad #AdventureAwaits #VolcanoViews #TravelInspo
